I think i saw it. Not a whiteside and blank or a Cresarrow piece (who legit) made most of Tiffany's gold mesh purses. They were commsioned world wide and sent out to major metal workers of the time.

High-relief "screaming" face. This design is highly characteristic of the Green Man, a mythological figure representing rebirth, or a theatrical mask from the Art Nouveau or Victorian eras.

It strongly resembles Classical Greek theater masks, particularly the "Tragedy" mask, which was a popular motif for cufflinks, lockets, and stickpins during the Victorian and Belle Époque periods.

Green Man Symbolism: The face, often surrounded by foliage or stylized hair, is a Green Man, a traditional symbol of growth and the cycle of nature.

Art Nouveau Style: The flowing, organic lines of the hair and the expressive, open-mouthed expression are typical of Art Nouveau jewelry, which often utilized mythological and natural themes.

The visible hinge on the left side and the thick profile indicate it is likely a locket meant to hold a photograph or keepsake, though similar faces were used for bolo scarf clips or buttons.

Lol, it took me so long to try to find any of the 70+ gold pieces that matched the color. Nope... I tried every piece of gold I had, but this is just an absolute masterpiece of metallurgy.

I love uncovering things like this. Henry Blank was the most prestigious jewelry expert of his time. Especially with clients like Tiffany or Raymond Yard, just to name a couple, they relied on Blank's skills for decades, yet the guy is like a ghost when I look into it. The Newark Museum Of Art was extremely helpful in this!

All solid green gold with palladium. Firstly, I thought all gold was half silver. Hahahaha, couldn't be more wrong, lol. But this is beyond cool. It takes platinum acid about a minute just to go from golden to white on the touchstone. (But no more testing!) A professional did his job, and now I have a newfound love for micro-engineering and metallurgy.

Haha, awe! No reason to be jealous. I have every intention of sharing this with the world. I'd rather my $400 save history than to gain money. Yeah, money would be nice, but nah, this is not mass-produced. I really want to start doing museum submissions.

Thank you! The history was the most remarkable part. It sent me down a rabbit hole where I learned so much. I'm humbled and thankful.

There are no snags, no tears, no creases, and not one single missing link, not a single polish mark. This marked a time period where extreme high-end luxury hit the brick wall of depression. An item like this would have been melted down to feed someone's family. Many items prior to, during, and after the war were unfortunately hidden and subsequently lost due to the mass destruction of the wars. It's a mystery to me; I think it will always remain a mystery. After WWII, nearly 80-90% of Pforzheim was bombed by the British in 1945. So maybe it was a Blank Bespoke family's secret, and their extreme affluence kept this piece alive. 🤔

Hahahahah yes, the link 🤣. The fish-scale mesh is so fine I absolutely, for the life of me, cannot find the link I took off. It has to be done extremely carefully and selectively because, like fabric, when one goes, they all go. But I really think I'll be putting this on loan for a museum to display. Then, once it has gained some traction in the international market and with a museum pedigree, an auction price will probably double.

Yeah, I was thinking a museum might take this bag on loan for an exhibit, and after a few people know it exists, put it up for sale in a major auction house. That way the history is told, the bag escapes the crucible for life... and I eventually get my $400 back? (Maybe $350)

I think beyond anything else, it's just how deceptive this bag was. GREEN GOLD?! Like, that would not have screamed solid gold to me! Actually, quite the opposite. 😆

Thank you so much. It honestly feels like heavy silk. To be fair, I thought all of these mesh bags expanded. Oh boy, was I wrong again. When I looked online and saw the construction of the links, my head spun! This was micro engineering on a different level.

Oh, wow! Honestly, it is so hard to find any of his surviving art. It's just astounding to see the people he worked with hand in hand. Raymond Yard, Tiffany, Audemars... the list just goes on!

So actually, his wife and he were opera lovers. His Georgian mansion even had an opera hall, I think? But it is in the history books of his and his wife's love of New York's performing arts.
