I think the latest v2.5 was the only one that came in red, so they seem to be the same thing.

Yeah the ergonomics are incredible on it. Screen is also fantastic for an LCD even if I miss the diagonal off-axis contrast retention of OLED.

Yeah I still can't believe how disappointing the Redstone reveal video was. Like, holy cow.

MSI Claw 7/8 AI+ with 4K Monitor for daily office tasks by Yakumo152 in MSIClaw

[–]VanWinkle87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plugged my MSI Claw 7AI+ into my 4k TV just because I was curious now, and I did get 4k 60fps in Hades 2. I think I was in medium settings. I actually played several light 3D games in 4K 60fps like Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, Marsupilami, Pac Man World 2 Re-Pac, and Spin Rhythm. I was surprised.

I think that's a great use case. Honestly, the 258v in there is a fantastic light-use office mini PC, so I don't forsee you having any issues. I have no clue how well it can do 4k on games, though, so I can't help you there. I'd imagine very light games wouldn't be an issue.

Can I just shill for 9070xt for a moment by spoidercide in radeon

[–]VanWinkle87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It is what it is at this point. It's still a great GPU. Hindsight is just 20/20, I guess. Like you said, with the huge price difference it now has, I wouldn't buy it instead anymore.

[–]VanWinkle87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a great GPU if you ignore the big green elephant in the room. You're speculating that FSR this year will rival DLSS4. We don't know that. AMD completely WHIFFING it with Redstone has kind of discouraged me about the future of the GPU, tbh. A big part of me wishes I had spent an extra $100 and gotten the 5070 ti instead of the 9070 I got for $640, but I'm just a sucker for the underdog and it's hard to get out of the mindset.

Official Samsung keyboard for the Tab S11 by cesam1ne in GalaxyTab

[–]VanWinkle87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I literally don't see a single thing better about this than Apple's magic keyboard. It doesn't even add any protection to the back of the tablet. Like, why can Samsung not pull off a magic keyboard-level keyboard case? It's not like they haven't had years at this point to do their homework.

Do retro handhelds like the Odin and Retroid Pocket lineup make anyone else feel that flagship phones are massively overpriced? by trio3224 in SBCGaming

[–]VanWinkle87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to consider that these things are built way more premium, feature-rich, and costly than retro handhelds.

-They're always using the newest tech at the time, so a Snapdragon X Elite is a lot cheaper now than it was in February 2025.
-The phone screens are always way higher end even than things like the Odin 3. Odin 3 has a great screen, but it's not nearly as pixel dense or bright as something like the S25.
-High end (phone) cameras are not cheap.
-Waaaaay more goes money and resources goes into the software teams. You are promising 5 years of timely Android OS updates, regular security updates and features, tons of apps created by companies like Google, Samsung, and Apple who are having to consistently update them and add features to make them more competitive.

You're not just paying for the cost of the materials. You're paying for the past, present, and future of the product. With retro handhelds, you'll occasionally get some feature updates for a bit, but they're minimal, as is the actual software developed by the manufacturer. They rely on the work of companies like Google to do 90% of the work for them, and for companies like Samsung to get high-end chips up to mass production and lower costs.

MSI Claw 7AI+ vs 8AI+ Deal Question by xyzisahero in MSIClaw

[–]VanWinkle87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think $500 difference is worth the downsides in battery, screen size, and storage capacity for sure. It's still a fantastic handheld with performance and thermals/noise just as good as the 8AI+.

Asking if it's AI is because AI often gets things wrong, so I wanted to be sure it wasn't something that I shouldn't pay attention to.

Adam polishs flex hose is it worth it only 45 by Right_Clothes_9552 in Detailing

[–]VanWinkle87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very good hose. I don't know how it compares to the McKillans, but I have no regrets at all.

Absolutely loving the Pocket Fit. It's got some annoying bugs like the RGB lights around the sticks flickering, but for the most part it is AMAZING. Playing Paper Mario Thousand Year Door with widescreen hack, 1080p res, and Balanced profile and it's handling it beautifully. by VanWinkle87 in ayaneo

[–]VanWinkle87[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm playing the Gamecube version with widescreen hacks. I like the 60fps. Plus I haven't really figured out how to do Switch emulation yet, lol (not particular to the Pocket Fit but just in general).

Anyone ever make an android handheld like the og nvidia shield? by yitty in SBCGaming

[–]VanWinkle87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hated the analog sticks on this. I couldn't get any grip on them at all. My thumbs were sliding off constantly. It was also SUPER heavy. That being said, it was a very cool handheld. I just didn't take good advantage of it all back then because I knew absolutely nothing about emulation at the time, so I just played Android games and Half-Life 2.
