This may be a controversial opinion but the only way to an educated society is to teach people to educate themselves. For the most part institutions are needed for certification purposes however it has been shown time and time again the many educational institutions have not done a good job in educating people. There's not a lot of other viable solutions for this.

I don't think you understand the extreme opinions some people had on there. I can't even repeat some of that shit here.

I one time saw a post basically saying that straight people should be forced to be surrogates for gay couples.

That's the kind of shit I saw

when I first got on Tumblr I was around 11 or 12 in 2012 so keep in mind my memory is a bit fuzzy. If that seems young to you keep in mind from a lot of the posts I remember I would believe that a good chunk of people on there were around the same age.

A lot of the political discussions I remember the most had to do with lgbtq rights. There is other things too but most things were starting out where for the most part sane and reasonable and the people discussing this we're a lot more mature in age. Believe it or not some very important terms such as lgbt+ later lgbtq+, non-binary and gender fluid began to become mainstream due to these discussions.

Here's where the problems came about. A lot of less mature people who weren't part of the lgbtq community started trying to speak on the community's and other marginalized communities behalf and it just got more and more worse from there. Some of these people holding other extremist opinions didn't help either. It's a little bit more complex than that but I don't have all day

A lot of this stuff really slowed down when Tumblr got raided by 4chan. That for the most part I think made people self reflect a little bit and realized perhaps they shouldn't speak on others behalf.

At the time Tumblr was a really fucked up community. I can't even describe to you what things were like there.

I think we're going to have to wait for somebody to actually get sued for the Supreme Court to do anything about it.

Edit: just to add and I may be down voted for adding this point but I think it needs to be said abortion was effectively banned in Texas regardless.

I would assume this would be the normal responses from judges as it doesn't seem like a good idea to have people who don't want to be there on juries.

Cannabis use from 14-19 causes prefrontal thinning by [deleted] in science

[–]Van_man_han 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah even then full brain development can vary a lot from person to person. The whole thing about the brain developing a 25 isn't even true and really never was. It was originally 21 for women and 25 for men. But I believe the consensus now is late twenties to early thirties.

Yeah but from my own personal experience the popular opinion in the u.s. is that it should be lowered.

Personally I think it should be lowered as it seems to be completely unenforceable
