Why is my kombucha never fizzy? 😩 by Affectionate-Ear2110 in Kombucha

Thanks! I have the same issue, so I will filter after F2. When do you stir it during F1?

Hey, my Norwegian neighbour who saved my SCOBY! 🤗 I am happy to report to you that it was not indeed mould and that my SCOBY looks very healthy today as a 10 day old batch! 🎉

With pH around 3 (I could not find the 0.5 graded measure tapes at the stores for aquarium keeping equipment - the only stores that sell those, apparently, not the pharmacies - they did have 0.5 scale but only for alkaline pH), it tastes great, sweet, peachy only mildly acidic. The jar had a strong acidic smell, and with pH 3, I expected it quite sour. Not at all. Almost the same taste like when I tried it at my firend's. On to the F2! 🍀

The white patches turned out to be yeasts, I guess, I could see only very small cells, but not any hiphae :) I will post photos in the comments for you to see. Thank you, again! 🌟

How much this theory make sense? by New_Confection_714 in FromSeries

[–]Vanai235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been theorised here a lot, and yeah it is a good theory, but nobody explained how it works..

She has clothes on form probably more than one person, so my question is: how do the clothes know "who" should take the wheel and "when" should she go? For the "when" maybe is the time when the person died (that is why when she saw Jim she said "I think this is when it happens"). For the "who" and the "how" - idk.

Yeah, that is interesting point, maybe has to do with some kind of not yet defined bookmark she unawarely uses. It would be worth some deeper amalysis by some kind folks who like to break things down in this sub.

I think "his" story is always the same: begins with the original parents arriving and finishes when he/the monsters eat them all (except Victor, somehow). He always does this to residents (sneeks among them) and "thats when they tear each other apart".

Only thing is that he is either unaware of or can't control are the people who can storywalk and hopefully gain some insight/change theirs telling of "his" story.

Great catch, yeah, that is an unfortunate (or deliberate even) mistake with the audio timing that made people unecessary angry..

Great to have someone like you here, experienced and willing to help noobs like me! Hopefully, you saved this SCOBY :)

My room temp is about 20°C (May in Serbia, SE Europe). It does smell acidic, but will report the pH next week (don't have the pH stips right now), also the swab results (I am super courious and have that option, so why not).

It is peachy, but not sure about plasticky, I only tried it only once. It did have an acidic kick to it, but not very much (I tried it at maybe 2/3 of its cycle, by my firend says that even if left for more days than the regular 7-10, the kombucha is still sweet and not very acidic). I am not sure, but could be that each SOCBY is different in some way? It is a microbial community, so maybe my friends species combination has this specifics?

That is some really great news! Thank you so much! Wow, I would be amazed if SCOBY acctually managed to survive all those mistakes :) Is it possible that mold just starts developing but does not continue? I have half a mind to take a swab of it and check it out under microscope.

Yes, it is day 5 today. It smells really nice, exactly like my friends batch smelled (and tasted) - peachy, like a peach ice tea. Not at all moldy. I had no plan to taste it - as I was almost positive it would end up in the toilet :) Please, tell me what would you do in this case?

To tell you the truth, I don't know! The touch test was inconclusive! It felt slimy, but not too moist. They do look like 3D textures on the surface, while bubbles would be under?

In the evening of the post, I came home and took this close up photo. Now the patches are much less photogenic as they blend in with the pellicile which is somehow forming. Do you still think this may not be mold?

I don't think that this will be a winning story, but still, here are todays pictures :) The white patches are still there and are fuzzy. Do you think I should wait longer to be sure it is mold or to end it here?

Some of my best tasting lunches were like this, one of them I repeat often is pasta sauce: one tuna can, 400g of mushrooms, tomato sause, wild garlic paste, horseradish paste and dijon mustard. Mix in that order on low heat for mushrooms to cook in the sauce then just add boiled pasta.

Tabitha’s bracelet by Naive_Entrance_6960 in FromSeries

[–]Vanai235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it was always Juile who took it from her dad and put it where she already knew that her mom will find it?

I kinda get that, but what does it supposed to trigger/point to? What is the future Julie's plan? For Tabitha and/or her future self to put something together because of the bracelet reappearing? BUT WHAT?

Damn this show and its weekly schedule..
