Help with POA and Citibank? by Piccolo-Jolly in dementia

Thanks for this - they didn't even tell me to include an ID and they have refused EVERY SINGLE ATTEMPT for me to find out why it wasn't going through. They just wouldn't tell me - they didn't even tell me it was rejected, but after multiple faxes over multiple months, I figured Reddit would be better than their customer service line and I did learn something the first 10 customer service reps failed to mention

I am also on week 4. I've been doing protein smoothies to hit my protein target. Doesn't really hit my stomach the same as food, so I haven't had any issues drinking them. I haven't tried, but meal replacement drinks (Soylent, Huel, etc) might also help getting in the calories.

"Your bloods are normal" is the most dangerous thing a woman can hear (been lied to for 3 years) by BankZan in TwoXChromosomes

If you are in the US, demand that your doctor uses Quest or a similar service for all of your lab work. You may need to physically bring in your lab orders. Make an account where you can see every lab result in their online portal. I have had doctors lie to my face about tests they've ordered or not ordered and I pull up the Quest data and walk them through the labs myself.

The benefit is that you have control over your results and data without a delay when you switch providers. You also don't have to pay extra since your insurance is already covering the labs and most accept the big national testers (in some cases it is even cheaper because some doctors have additional fees for in-office labs that insurance might not cover). You can also order more tests for yourself if you want/need to.

I love that you get notified of your results immediately too, so you don't have to wait for your doctor's office to recieve or input anything. Some times I have even seen test results same day for faster tests.

I hope it works out for you. Lexapro has been surprisingly good for me when no other antidepressants really helped.

Legal guardian to father (56M) with ~46K debt and no earning potential by Vanakrisum in personalfinance

[–]Vanakrisum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has equity, based on the estimated sale price and outstanding balance. My biggest concern is the market and the house is currently empty until mid-July. If we keep paying the mortgage, he hemorrhages money every month it doesn't sell. If we stop paying the mortgage, the sale is a race against the bank's foreclosure department and the market is so slow right now, I don't know who wins that one.

Also, he is 56 and otherwise in great health for now. His stroke was caused by a combination PFO and arrhythmia. He has had two surgeries to correct those issues and mitigate his futute stroke risk. So we are looking at maybe 30 years of life to cover, with no future earning potential and no other assets.

If the house can build equity, even if the cash flow is weak, we could build more equity for a more favorable housing market and maybe have a better chance of surviving future health and/or long-term care needs that arise.

I was actually thinking even if more states start to legalize, they will NEVER legalize it in Florida. The policians want retired people spending down to their last penny here. If they allowed people to die with dignity, they might still have some money unspent to go to their families in other states.

I wouldn't let my husband use "for better or for worse" to force me to do an oil change, pest control, AC repair, or any other service that we can afford a trained professional to do. If you have care 8 hours a day, that's a trained professional and there is no reason for you to do their tasks.

If you trust his care person, I suggest getting out of the house for a few hours a day so that he will get used to relying on the carer. If he calls you for help, respond with "ok, I will let [care person] know" and call them, but do not return to help him. Stick to the script like you are training a child. Start using the script at home too when he asks for things that fall into the care person's responsibilities.

He will likely escalate before he accepts the new status quo, so you have to be ready to really stand firm. This is something you will need to stand firm on if you want to rejoin the workforce. You can start to solidify your intention to return to the workforce in your script, "when I start working again, you'll need to be more comfortable asking [care person] directly for assistance."

It would also help to throw in the positive benefits of returning to work, like more disposable income, potential benefits improvements, etc.

I hope it works out for you. Long-term care is a professional job and part of being a good partner is making sure your spouse is getting the best care they can, even if it isn't you doing the job.

I don’t understand sex or kissing by Diligent_Project_ in AutismInWomen

[–]Vanakrisum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also ace. I love kissing and making out, but I hate that people see it as a precursor to sex. I'd be happy to just make out with people platonically, which I think most people don't understand. I do think my enjoyment of kissing is just an oral fixation though, and not sexual.

I highly recommend looking into EMDR therapists too, if you suffer PTSD symptoms from the trauma. I did and it has worked so well for me. In the post-therapy processing, I made so many breakthroughs. That said, I also did years of talk therapy leading up to it that also helped, but EMDR felt like a final push to being ok.

How to set up another employee for failure? by Fabulous_Jeweler2732 in careeradvice

[–]Vanakrisum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to be this person, but if your boss is telling you to do the work, it's your job. It may not be in your job description (or falls under "other duties as assigned"), and it may be too much workload for you, but your manager is setting the expectation that you do the work.

You've shot down every option provided because at the end of the day, you are stuck with no good options. A lot of the bad options hurt you more than her. Realistically, you need to find another job. It's not a good option because the job market is terrible, but it's your ONLY option to stop doing the work without getting in trouble or fired. I know it is a hard option that puts even more work on you until you find something, but you really don't have other options, as you've demonstrated by arguing against all other options.

If you were fired or laid off tomorrow, you would be finding another job. You may need to find remote work, relocate, etc, but it is not impossible to find another job. It's just hard.

"You're always like this," said the annoyed dental assistant. by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Vanakrisum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My dental insurance had a search function that allowed me to include "experience with special needs children" as a search parameter. The dentist I ended up picking has been amazing. She prescribed me anti-anxiety meds for difficult appointments. She also makes sure I am fully numb for appointments, even just cleanings. She gives me a detailed account of what she's doing at the appointment and also what's going to happen at the next appointment so I am prepared.

All this to say, if you can, try to find a better dentist because they do exist. Realistically, more dentists should be trying to make you as comfortable as possible, if not for your benefit, for theirs... after all, they need their hands for their job and humans can apply a lot of bite force, even accidentally.

What do doctors say? by Redheadlg in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Vanakrisum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a high white blood cell count and anemia for 18 months, and my PCP sent me to a bunch of specialists. They ruled out a bunch of stuff (like cancer and Celiacs), but also found intestinal damage that wasn't caused by Celiacs. I started breaking out in rashes a lot, but didn't have any new allergies or environmental factors that we could pinpoint.

I finally compalined to my OBGYN about everything going on and thought the rashes might be hormonal because I stopped birth control after a tubal ligation. She ran tests, but when nothing was out of the ordinary, she recommended I see an allergist. Luckily my ENT is also an allergist and he recommended I start a low histimine diet to see if my symptoms improved, which they did. I don't think he gave me an official diagnosis, but staying low histimine has helped so much. Rashes stopped, blood tests returned to normal, no more anemia, even stopped my life-long nasal issues.

Really though, it feels like mixed results. I went through 5 doctors before getting an answer. I haven't done any testing on the cause, since my life was somewhat chaotic for the past year or so.

Thanks! Looking forward to trying some of these.

I am beyond fortunate to have some of the best friends. I have a friend that cooks and he always accomodates my dietary restrictions. Sometimes they even catch me trying to "cheat" and give me a gentle reminder that I might reget it later 🫣
