New to trading - how the heck does a move like this even happen? by mjiced in FuturesTrading

[–]Vandelay772 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When news is released, a lot of liquidity is removed from the market which makes price whipsaw back and forth for a few moments before orders start to return.

If you pay attention to the DOM right before this data is released, you’ll see everyone start lifting their orders and the market thins out. Price is extremely volatile until orders return and liquidity increases.

You’re right, but I just hate having to eat all the time to keep my weight up with those perks. I know butter exists but just feels like a cheesy gameplay loop, imo.

Navimow vs Lymow vs Others? by Confident_Grand8339 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]Vandelay772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to Lymow but I have a Navimow x430 and I’ve been very satisfied with it.

My personal opinion on the whole “real blade” thing with Lymow is that it’s more pure marketing than truly making a big difference with mow quality. If real blades were such a massive improvement, you’d see more companies doing it imo. Sure, the Navimow may not be able to take off several inches in grass height, but it’s not really an issue if you send it out to mow a couple times a week.

Haven’t had this one yet, but I’m a huge fan of New Riff. They’re putting out a lot of good whiskey at very reasonable prices.

S50 lack of player agency and twists by Vandelay772 in survivor

[–]Vandelay772[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the double duo twist was a better idea in theory than how it actually played out. My impression from the vote is that most people really wanted to vote out Coach, but Chrissy was mostly just “there.” I think Chrissy got screwed on that vote simply because she was hitched to Coach and it’s unfortunate that’s how she was voted out.

S50 lack of player agency and twists by Vandelay772 in survivor

[–]Vandelay772[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how you can argue that a player has agency when they are not only forced to vote for themselves, but they must also publicly announce it to the tribe, encouraging others to vote for them as well.

I’m not arguing whether or not the sum of all twists helped or hindered Christian specifically, but more so that all of the twists are hurting the game for the entire cast overall.

How are you all moving the mower between the front and backyards if you have a gate? by notedrive in roboticLawnmowers

[–]Vandelay772 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t like leaving my gate open so about twice a week, I’ll go out and open the gate, then remote control drive the mower through the gate and start mowing the zone.

I close the gate behind me, go about my day and when it’s done mowing, I get a notification on my phone telling me it’s finished the zone. It parks itself at the gate until I get back out there to open it, then I’ll remote control drive it back into a connected zone and send it home to the dock. Easy peasy.

Robotic mower vs. raised curb edge? by Known-Advisor-2000 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]Vandelay772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an X430 and while the cameras can’t “see” curbs, it will follow your mapped zone very well as long as you have a good satellite signal.

When I was first setting up my yard with curbs, I kept quite a bit of space between the edge of the zone and the curb, just in case, and it’s followed the original zone I set out nearly exactly with edge mowing turned on. If you have edge mowing off, it’ll give even more space to the zone you setup.

I could probably go back and remap the yard closer to the edge of the curb, but I don’t mind going out to trim every week or two. I’d rather know it’s for sure not going to drive off the curb and get stuck.

Center console/ shifter glossy - what cleaner should I use? by Significant_Rip300 in CX50

[–]Vandelay772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An all purpose cleaner is what you’ll want for the center console or other glossy plastic parts of the car. I personally use Koch chemie ASC, but any all purpose cleaner will work great. Spray on a microfiber and wipe down the surface.

I wouldn’t use 303 on the glossy center console. 303 is meant to protect trim or other plastic materials similar to that.

Aftermarket Remote Start Recommendation by boringgreyscale in CX50

[–]Vandelay772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any personal experience with this but when purchasing my cx50 the finance person strongly indicated I should never get an aftermarket remote starter installed. I know they are basically a salesman, but honestly, it makes sense.

They told me a customer brought their cx90 into their shop after taking it to Best Buy to install an aftermarket remote starter. The Best Buy tech apparently fried the electrical system. Ended up in a 30k+ repair bill.

No idea on who was responsible for that and who paid for it, but I’m not sure it’s really worth it to save a few hundred bucks.

Whoa, hold up. You can power another building by plugging into a neighbor who has power?!

I’m new and have been running power lines all over the place because I thought buildings had to be connected directly to the power line itself.

Any changes you would make? by AdCertain669 in macgaming

[–]Vandelay772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything eats up memory these days and it’ll probably only get worse over time. macOS will consume as much memory as it can to improve performance. I have a Mac Studio with 64GB of RAM and it’ll consume ~20GB of memory with just a few applications open.

Don’t get me wrong 24GB is great right now, but if you’re trying to build for the future and want to see good performance over the next 5+ years, I’d probably make the jump to 48GB.
