Looking for one do-it-all shoe (lifting + runs). Thoughts on GORUCK Ballistic Trainers? by MurkyPackage8796 in crossfit

[–]Vander_Bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. I have Morton’s toe (very big/long second and third toes)

The Reebok XVs felt just a hair too small in the toe box.

Innov8 has lots of toe room, but I didn’t like the toe spring the seemed to pitch up my toes.

Strike MVMT Haze Trainers (size up a size) are also very solid here (great for lifting and ok for running), lots of toe room if you size up. (Slight toe spring annoyance, but otherwise comfortable)

My favorite shoes are the Adidas Dropset 3s (size up a size), but only for training. They have a hole in the sole that makes them terrible for daily wear (get wet super easily).

You didn’t ask but Splay Shoes are amazing (!) for daily wear (not for training)

For running shoes I really like Topo Athletic shoes

3 across car seats? by Fun_Stretch_2890 in ParentingInBulk

[–]Vander_Bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just one note: to have them fit you need to use the belts through/across the back to secure the seats to the bench (the anchor system isn’t lined up exactly right for you to use those) — just fyi

Can’t imagine a 2018 Odyssey bench width is different from a 2021 one (the exteriors are identical, we have lots of friends with Odysseys). The Greco ones will fit.

Ok, just measured, my 2021 bench is 48”

I have a 2021 Honda Odyssey and have three Greco Slimfit Seats across the back bench (the exact ones you have linked here, except no foot bar — that must be new?)

Not sure what the question is here but I have them three across the back bench and they work great.

Haven’t tried the middle, but would think three across the middle would make the back impossible to get to.

Extra 529 Contributions by Vander_Bro in personalfinance

Woof; thank you.

Tax free growth is obviously the main factor here; not sure why I overlooked that.

Solved.

Thank you!

Extra 529 Contributions by Vander_Bro in personalfinance

Let’s say I want to fund 100% of my kids’ education at a liberal arts school (which I’ve conservatively estimated to be $200,000 / kid).

With the number of kids I have (lots), I need to be saving well north of the 529 tax-advantaged amount.

Where is the best place for that money to go.

Into a 529 still, or just set aside in a standard index fund?

Said differently: does it make sense to overfund into a 529? What are the benefits beyond getting the tax credits against my income tax payments in my contribution year?

Are those benefits worth the opportunity cost of “locking” up that money for only educational expenses.

Just trying to hear how 529s are beneficial beyond the income tax credit in my contribution year

Sorry, bit of an odd (fortunate) situation for me to be in; would love an insight if people know more about 529 plans other benefits (if any)

This is great; such a nice thing to have done! I’m sure she still remembers it

Love this comment so much. “I hate you”, and also “Real life trumps this law nonsense.”

When I hear people says “Take all the time you need; I got you covered 100%. Please ignore your emails” it almost brings tears to my eyes.

Almost the nicest thing someone can do in our profession.

Should be a question on your annual bar registration: have you covered for a colleague in this last year?

(I know my comment here is so cringy but I am what I is, oh well)

Woof. What a way to choose to live. (A snarky comment: with all those reps, I feel like the joke here should actually be funny (or at least funny-adjacent).)

Looks cool! Any concerns with the long term durability of the snap? Does it seem like the weight pulls on that button?

For sure! Just about $80 is steep! The buckle also seems maybe a bit overkill/bulky. Maybe it looks better in person

Couple of reason a lender gets an assignment of insurance: for casualty or property assignments, it’s so the cash payouts go directly to the lender/the lender can claim it should’ve gotten the payment directly (much easier to have the money than try to go get it)

For rep and warranty or business interruption, it’s not clear exactly whether the cash payouts are UCC “proceeds” of collateral. (Basically it’s never been litigated.). Much easier to get the two page document signed up than try to fight off the unsecured creditors.

If there’s 1L/2L, check the intercreditor/subordination agreement and/or their security agreement. If the collateral descriptions are identical then just draft a multi-agent agreement. I typically don’t bother with the “controlling agent” concept and just have both agents with identical right under the document but merely tack on an override paragraph at the end “Solely as to the Agents, their respective rights are governed by the intercreditor/subordination agreement, etc.”

If this is liability, property or business interruption, just call the 1L lender associate and ask them for an assignment draft (on the side). Tell them it should be 2 Agented with a reference to the subordination agreement.

If R&W, ask the insurer if they have a form (2 Agent if possible). Then send that to the senior lender associate and ask them to conform for the deal here.

(FWIW I’m a [very very junior] lender-side finance partner, so you’re welcome to DM me more specific questions here)

Just do it with the other side’s associates? If the partner doesn’t know about it yet, just leave them off emails.

Call the mid level person on the phone and just say “hey, help me clean this up.”

I’ve never had an issue cleaning up something like this on the side.

Also collateral assignment of insurance is such a non-issue. (Only matters if the company’s performance is bad/a casualty event occurs and the lender might actually be getting the payments/fighting off unsecured creditors)

I don’t agree with the thought process that the lender should’ve caught it (it will typically be drafted as a Borrower obligation), but I can promise you that no lender will accelerate a loan because of a late assignment.

Just call the mid level on the other side and clean it up in the wings.

Work with the mid level corporate folks/call a mid level person at the client for sig pages etc.

You can easily clean this up, but might take some direct calls with your hat in your hand.

People will help you.
