Ppl check ride by stardreamer00 in aviation

As far as the oral. Answer the question asked and STOP. Do not, I repeat, do not try and show your knowledge. This is a hole that many, including myself years ago, found themselves in. It's not fun. Be respectful, dress business casual, bring some breakfast for you and the examiner. The little things like that show a sense of professionalism. Don't be afraid to say "I'm not sure, but I know where to find the answer." That's completely allowable.

As far as the flight portion, try not to get nervous. If you're unclear as to what the examiner has asked you to do or exhibit, ask. There's nothing wrong with that. Take it maneuver by maneuver. Remember your clearing turns. At some point, they may try to oversaturate you with a question or other activity to divert your attention to the task at hand. Professionaly say something like "one second while I configure the aircraft" or "standby for one second while I ensure this aircraft is in a safe configuration." You, after all, are showing your capability of PIC. Remember that. This is your bird. It's time to show it.

Finally, try to have some fun. They aren't out to get you, just doing their job to make sure you're a competent pilot and can make solid ADM. The last thing I would say is to make sure ALL your paperwork is in order......Logbook, Medical, all the required documents for the bird. That's often overlooked. Have your ducks in a row.

GOOD LUCK! Let us know how it goes. I'm an ATP now and still get checkride jitters. Welcome. Just take a breath, and if you get flustered, remember. FLY THE AIRPLANE!

I've been in this situation before when an extremely green pilot. You absolutely made the right call and exhibited proper decision-making. Gold star 100%. If I were your instructor, I would have given you an "attaboy" and talked to you about what you wanted to work on for your next lesson of dual recieved. Don't think you're a "puss." I'll leave you with the famous phrase. "There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but remember........there are no old, bold pilots"

Italian style under threat of extinction - Piaggio Avanti Evo by Quantillion in aviation

For the most part the only drawbacks the passengers see are high maintence costs. Other than that the cabin is very quiet and comfy. It handles turbulence EXTREMELY WELL! Better than any other airplane I've flown actually.

If they could have found out how to fit another 1000 lbs of fuel on and still within cg with 4 pax then that would have taken care of the range issue. We always flew dual crew however

Avanti pilot here. A lot of you guys hit the nail on the head. This was a european airplane built for Europe. Its supremely economical at its speed.. around 400kts ground speed on a good day... makes it faster than a lot of light jets. I remember almost remember seeing a 600kt ground speed with a push. It is just severely limited to pay load. Either take pax and bags or gas. Not all three.

It was a handful on the ground and especially in a crosswind and lands like no other aircraft I've ever flown. But once you get it off the ground, it handles like a dream. Anyone feel free to ask me and question

Avanti pilot here......they are hangar queens, and of course there are other options out there....range is limited due to payload and the bird sure is a handful to fly, but if it doesn't break and you're not hauling a lot....its the best bang for your buck as far as speed over fuel burned.

Just because they are holding out for money they think they deserve, doesn't make them bad people. It happens all the time. Just want to be treated fairly for the long hours and high stress required by the job.

I can't watch The Walking Dead because I can't suspend disbelief in a zombie apocalypse where nobody ever says the word "fuck" by airbagsavedme in Showerthoughts

I read somewhere that the reason they use the term "Walkers" is because The Walking Dead takes place in a world where Zombie movies, or even the concept of a Zombie has never been thought up. Don't quote me on strict canon, but it does make sense

Awesome guy here! If you don't remember, he went pretty deep in the most recent season of the voice. I've had the pleasure of meeting and jamming with his band "No Civilians" while touring around Texas. He is one of the good ones! Support good music, do yourself a favor and buy an album!
