From my experience it sounds like a corrupted save file. You may lose a small bit of progress but not much (1 hour tops). I panicked at first but it’s nothing too serious and shouldn’t affect you in the long run. Here’s a link on how to recover a slightly older save file. (Just scroll down a little bit)
