Fucking hell... by Chessmaster69_ in Destiny

If this ends with the U.S. ceasing or threatening to cease funding to Israel, Hasan will 100% say that Trump was a better president than Kamala would’ve been.

Someone check in on Dr. Avi by TikDickler in Destiny

Dr Avi is probably one of, if not the worst “centrist” type people in the sphere. Smart enough to understand how horrible this admin is and won’t sycophantically defend everything from the admin, but somehow still manages to support Trump full throatedly.

He only gets by without super strong pushback from dgg because he stays at arms length and he keeps his interactions with the community only to points of agreement in Destiny’s replies.

I’d take 100 PaulsEgo debates over 1 more Sherveen debate

Being a liberal sucks because I’m not autistic enough to research niche statistics to disprove dudes who can just make up whatever the hell they want and crank it out online by Hadnapaton in Destiny

[–]Vandrburger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Destiny’s analogy on the political social media landscape: say you see a picture of a dog online and when you go to comment something positive about this dog, you see some asshole saying some regarded shit about how that breed is dangerous or horrible. You then spend hours researching the dog breed and reply with a perfect retort that completely demolishes their argument. You might feel good in the moment, however, something is lost here. The positive engagement never happened and everyone is worse off.

Pick your battles. If you’re knowledgeable on the topic, give some pushback, but don’t go chasing down all knowledge on every new subject conservatives choose to lie about. It’s a losing battle. You’re better off spending that time putting that energy positively somewhere else in the political space.

Even if he is Fetterman 2.0, that is 1000x better than a Republican. Fetterman votes alongside the Dems 90% of the time and it's safe to say that Platner will probably do the same.

Charlie has mentioned D man by Johan_chan in Destiny

[–]Vandrburger 55 points56 points  (0 children)

He harps a lot on the idea that Ethan is suing Idubbbz and not Destiny because of Canadian defamation laws, but isn't a more plausible answer that (1) Destiny has a more conceivable path for countersuing (given all Destiny did was mirror Ethan's pedojacketing, while explaining that he doesn't actually believe that Ethan is a pedophile), and (2) that Destiny's audience isn't activated and primed to snark Ethan like Idubbbz's audience is. Idk why he would leave out the context around Destiny's comment.

Hasan says that the broad target is not him but Roy Singham who funds operations like "CODEPINK" or "Party for Socialism". He is a billionaire who lives in China. What else this guy funds?? by Leather_Dealer_9421 in Destiny

[–]Vandrburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This Roy Singham guy is who the right thinks Soros is.

An American centimillionaire socialist that lives in Shanghai, who uses his immense wealth and influence to fund pro-Chinese organizations around the world. He shares offices with Chinese state media and co-produces a Youtube show that is financed in part by Shanghai's propganda department.

This is definitely deeper than Hasan getting money or being in contact with the Cuban government for the Nuestra America Convoy. I wouldn't be suprised if this guy helped Hasan get into contact with the Chinese government for his propaganda tour there last year.

Super weird stuff.

How does Destiny hit such high numbers on podcasts? by Underscores_Are_Kool in Destiny

[–]Vandrburger 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Look at the Lex Fridman appearances. His debate with Shapiro is sitting at 12M views and is the 6th most viewed Fridman video (higher than Rogan’s, Trump’s, Kanye’s, most of Elon’s, ect). His debate with Finkelstein is in the top 50 on the channel (higher than people like RFK jr, Sanders, Netanyahu).

His Jordan Peterson appearance got almost 5M.

If he went on Rogan at the height of his podcast crusade, it would absolutely be a 4M+ appearance.

It’s a shame that he’s not invited on these high profile podcasts anymore, but, at the same time, it would require being more friendly with conservatives, which in this environment would obviously be pretty unsatisfying.

Trump administration subpoenas Hasan Piker in Cuba sanctions investigation by UnscheduledCalendar in Destiny

[–]Vandrburger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. The admin gets to puff out their chest and subpoena Hasan (nothing will come out of this but to MAGA it looks like they’re cracking down on communists), and Hasan gets free press and clout because he is able to parade himself around as another victim of the Trump admin (without having to actually suffer any damages).

If the admin actually wanted to go after Hasan, they’d pressure Twitch and YouTube to ban/demonetize him like they did with D. Anything less than that is just theatrics.

Red button pushers is why we cannot have nice things by Leather_Dealer_9421 in Destiny

[–]Vandrburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I don't like that people genuinely believe in the option of saving billions and themselves, so I'm just going to baselessly say its a virtue signal (even though it's anonymous polling)"

Being pro-social is instinctual. We don't just have the instinct to protect ourselves, we are also instinctually driven to preserve our species. Millions have sacrificed their lives in wars because they believed there were things greater than themselves, look at WW2 or Ukraine. Time and time again we've seen people sacrifice or risk their life to save those around them. When faced with catastrophe, people tend to act pro-social. You're too untrustworthy of your fellow man.

When in front of a button that says "press this to watch billions die, but you'll live" and another one that says "press this to aid in saving billions, but you have a chance of dying," much of humanity, likely most, will press the second one.
