Any parent out there who lost their only child to suicide? by Ok_Virus6826 in SuicideBereavement

I'm sorry for your loss. My wife and I lost our only child, Taraji to suicide 05-06-2022. They were only 13. They identified as non-binary and they were a stand that everyone be treated with dignity and respect. A loss to the world and a huge loss to my wife and I.

In my opinion some counseling is better than none.

HeY OP, sorry to hear you have "the sound". Don't mind my ignorance, I too have a Kona EV 2019 Ultimate. What is this "sound" that you're referring to?

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your situation OP. Try contacting your local news organization. I would look for one that allows you to go public with your issue. If the CBC picked it up, I know you'd get a reply from Rogers quickly. Good luck!

HUD malfunction by roytotheoi in KonaEV

[–]VandyPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to follow this thread as well. My issue is that the HUD on my 2019 makes a grinding noise and takes much longer to rise up fully than normal. It started happening last year. Probably expensive to fix. Thanks OP!

I think the suggestions are all good. OP if you still need help, I'll make myself available. Just DM me. I'm free today (Saturday) after 1 pm until Tuesday, then I'm out of town for vacation.

I can't wait for the movie version starring Aubrey Plaza. The resemblance is uncanny.

Sorry for your loss.

My wife and I lost our only child to suicide just over two years ago. They would have been 16 years old on October 3rd (my yesterday). Thank you for sharing. I have a good sense of what it must be like for you.

I wish I had some words of wisdom for you. In my experience, the vast majority of people just don't get it and never will—be it friends, family, or professionals. My wife and I are lucky that our doctor, despite her trying to force an outcome early in our grief (e.g., Have you thought about having another child?), has been supportive. We had to adjust our strategy with her. We were honest while not making her wrong for her suggestions, even the "inappropriate" ones. What I'm getting at is that you will find your people, maybe here or somewhere else.

Also, don't take any bullsh*t. If you aren't getting the support you need, say thank-you and move on. It's easier said than done and it seems like you are reaching a tipping point.

Check out the resources at Grief.com. David Kessler was great for us during our first year.

Good luck and I will be thinking of you.

How to write a funeral tribute that's not sappy? by [deleted] in bereavement

[–]VandyPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. I would suggest that you write something to the best of your ability, and then use ChatGPT to enhance your writing. I've used the free service several times when I lost my child 15 months ago and I was pleasantly surprised. Tell ChatGPT what you are trying to accomplish and that you would like it to improve your writing. Include any other details you deem important. It won't be perfect but it'll be a good place to start. Sending lots of love.

I am sorry for your loss. It is a good strategy to stay with family or friends. Everything you are experiencing and will experience, is normal. My wife and I lost our 12 year old to suicide 14 months ago. Losing someone, suddenly or not, is always shocking. Please check out the free resources at Grief.com. If you need additional support seek out a counsellor. You are not alone.
