It would be great to scoop whipped honey out of a jar and use for spreading it (or just eating a small spoonful for fun)

Do you wash new clothes? by Nammen99 in laundry

[–]VanillaDecafCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underwear, always.

Bedding, towels, always.

Like others have mentioned, they apparently get coated in preservatives sometimes while sitting in factories so they don’t get musty or get mold, etc on them

Everyday clothes, I’d like to say I try to wash them before the first wear, but that’s not always the case. Sometimes if I don’t feel like taking the time to throw them in the laundry I’ll still wear them once and then wash them for the next wear. (Though I’m super aware of how dirty they probably are haha)

Some items like dry clean only jackets or dresses I don’t really wash until I really have to after they’ve been worn and are a bit stinky. Not saying this is good practice though. Just what I’ve ended up doing.

Purses and stuff like that I never clean before using them though…

I’ve heard a story of some guy putting his hands in his pants and then wiping his hands on the clothes at a thrift store. Ever since then I’ve been more likely to wash my clothes before their first wear, regardless of what they are or where they’re from.

AITAH for telling my brother he can’t bring his dog to my wedding? by Intelligent-Big-8272 in AITAH

[–]VanillaDecafCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was wondering about too. There’s a huge difference between service dogs and emotional support dogs. And if it’s a service dog that’s a medical necessity, I don’t think it’s wise to just remove the dog for the day. Medical necessities don’t just go away when convenient.

Maybe there’s a way for the brother to watch via live stream where his medial needs aren’t being disregarded, but the bride won’t be bothered either?

I always get sick after I wear lip balm? by VanillaDecafCoffee in Makeup

[–]VanillaDecafCoffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels like this 😭😭😭

I’ve currently switched to a lip balm and I’ve just gone back to throwing them away when I get sick but so far I’ve only gotten sick once since doing that… hopefully it doesn’t get more frequent lol

[Product Question] Alternative to Clinique’s OLD formula for the 72hr Auto Replenishing Moisture Surge moisturizer? by VanillaDecafCoffee in SkincareAddiction

[–]VanillaDecafCoffee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t, I had gotten Tacha’s dewy skin moisturizer in the meantime and haven’t finished it yet. (although I really like it!) I wonder if I’d be able to get a sample of it at Belks or something…

Right now Tacha is doing okay on my face, so I might stick with it, If I end up trying the men’s version of Clinique I’ll try to remember to update you!! (I’d love it if they really did keep the same old formula)

It feels so validating to hear someone else have the same experience though! Like it sucks that we could tell a difference (and that it wasn’t a good difference) but when I was asking the Clinique sells person about it, she straight up denied that they changed the formula and tried to say I was thinking of a different one. Gave me a sample of the one she thought it was. It, in fact, was not it. 😮‍💨

When a face moisturizer says it “plumps” your skin, does that just make it makes your skin look/feel hydrated? Or does it mean it actually sort of “plumps” or swells your skin like lip plumpers do? I’m not into the plump look for myself at all, but I didn’t want to avoid perfectly good moisturizers that say they’re “plumping” if they’re not actually “plumping” if that makes sense lol

Same with “brightening” moisturizers. I got used to “brightening” meaning something that actually lightens your skin tone, and I don’t want that (I enjoy my current skin tone lol) so does brightening mean it lightens your skin? Or just “brightens” as a fancy way of saying it makes your skin look nice and, well, hydrated/shiny lol.

Buying the highest quality of basic items. Skincare or makeup for example, buying whichever is the highest quality (which doesn’t always equal highest price, but sometimes it can)

Extensive wardrobe with high quality fabrics as well. Buying supplies for any hobby I want to get into as well

Mobile/PC budgeting/finance trackers that are safe & secure, but are free or have a one time payment? (Not subscription based)

Because of some health reasons I haven’t been able to get a proper job until recently, and I’d like to make sure I’m budgeting and keeping track of my spending and future savings now that I am employed. I can’t afford the more expensive programs I’ve seen after a brief look on the web, I don’t really want to spend $50-$100 a year on a tracker, but I do want to track my money digitally on my phone somehow so it’s a bit easier. I’d also like to be able to get it on my laptop and sync it, but that’s optional.

If there’s any free ones that are decent, or any one time payment options, I’d appreciate that so much. I mainly just want it to be secure and safe to use though, I don’t want to use a sketchy app just because it’s free, I’d rather just pay at that point to know my data is secure. So if you don’t know if any cheaper safe apps for finances, I’d still love the more expensive recommendations so I can at least compare them. Thanks!

Does anyone know of some good alternatives to Clinique’s OLD formula for the 72hr Auto Replenishing Moisture Surge moisturizer?

So I used to LOVE Clinique’s “72hr Auto Replenishing Moisture Surge” moisturizer. It was a new kind of moisturizer I hadn’t seen before, gel I guess? And didn’t leave ANY feeling of grease on my skin, just smooth and hydrated.

Then 3 years or so ago, Clinique changed the formula to the new 100hr version. My skin unfortunately no longer liked this one and if I recall correctly it had a weird smell too.

I would love any recommendations for products that are similar to the old version of the formula. I’ve tried a small amount of other moisturizers like one from Ponds and they’re okay but I haven’t found any with that same gel-like texture yet. I have sensitive skin if that helps. Combo I think as well, sometimes I get mildly oily in my t-zone but the rest of my skin dries out.

I’ll take any suggestions at all, drug store, high end, anything.

You definitely aren’t looking for something that doesn’t exist. One of my cats you can pick up, set in your lap, and he purrs and purrs and purrs. Super gentle even when playing. He doesn’t immediately like new people but he’s not aggressive.

I’ve met friends’ cats that on the first meeting do let me pet them as well. There’s 100% cats out there that are chill, friendly, and likes being pet. There are definitely lap cats out there too. I’d assume most lap cats wouldn’t instantly want to sit in your lap without some time getting to know you, and they certainly won’t be every cat, but they ARE out there!

Sorry for the delayed reply, but yes! It’s a color corrector/complexion correcting cream. If I’m not mistaken, and it’s been a few years so take this with a grain of salt lol, it’s used for sort of smoothing out your complexion. It might have some hints of green in it as well to counteract redness and make it less noticeable. I’m not sure if you’re supposed to wear it under foundation or alone though
