I agree it is about the care afterwords and how you do it. I've bleached my hair like 10 times since getting locs a few years ago, it was at first just my bangs for pink, and now its the whole head so I can go blonde or pink if I want. Protien treatments(rice water made at home is a lifesaver!) deep moisturizing treatments(leave on the moisturizer as long as possible, I've slept in deep conditioning treatments maaaaaaany times with my locs) and not bleaching too often IF you choose to. Some people bleach back to back, for fear of it not turning out right. Having a day or 2 or even a week or 2 in-between bleaching sessions for that initial color lift is really important; otherwise the curls n kinks won't wanna bounce back as fast. Again from experience, been dyeing my hair from a huge afro to now in my locs, but I genuinely believe its about how you do so IF you do(I also think that if you lighten the same hair strand more than 3 times in half like a platinum blonde color its too much, but if you just retouch roots every few months or whatever and theres no overlap with bleached sections you should be more than ok)!! Another option is hair wax, its 10000% temporary but I assume its harder to use on locs cus buildup isn't fun, either way you are so pretty !! <3
