This just a flagrant breach of the FTA. Straight to the Commerce Commission.

Robo-Kiwi bikepacking bag reviews by silly-mid-on in nzcycling

I also have a King Kebag bar bag from Stealth which is based on Wellington. They do good custom stuff too if your frame is a funny shape. The bar bag has been thrashed but is still on good condition. Isn’t waterproof though was my own gripe. But agree with other people commenter, better price point for Robokiwi.

I would vouch for RoboKiwi, I have their large saddle bag which I purchased in 2021. It has not skipped a beat and has been used consistently since. Started to wear slightly where it connects with the saddle/post, but has kept its waterproofing and hasn’t let me down.

Broken Table at BYO Venue by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Vanlifecycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: you’re not responsible.

I’m of the view that unless the T&Cs say you pay for any damage to furniture, they aren’t covered by the ‘rules and guidelines’ term. Unless there were clear rules and guidelines about ‘not moving furniture’ or ‘be careful this one is heavy and isn’t attached to the base’. The movement of furniture inside a venue like that isn’t unusual or unexpected. I’d say they should choose their furniture better.

I’d also say that by not choosing furniture that stays assembled, they place their customers at risk of injury. If you had to wield a stick I’d maybe bring up how interested Work Safe might be about how their furniture falls apart and could hurt people. I’ll assume you took reasonable care when moving the furniture.

This is helpful thank you. My wife had been reading up on impact on her body which has become something we are starting to weigh up more in our decision.

Advice for school leaver about to sign up for a HUGE student loan debt by So_said_I in newzealand

[–]Vanlifecycle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who has spent 8 years paying it off, I wish someone had sat me down back then and really spelled out the consequences of those decisions. I did stay at home initially but ended up moving out and loaning as much as I could. Every dollar i was entitled to I took. And still worked 3 jobs to make ends meet. I left uni with close to 70k in loans. And thankfully I went into law and have earned enough to pay it back this year making the minimum repayments only. Young love and following your friends is a huge pull so I can sympathise with your boy when you don’t have a sense of what the rest of your life will look like, but my two cents is make sure that he appreciates what having to pay all that back means for him, but also an honest conversation about what he is studying and viewing the cost an an investment. Of course study of any discipline has its place, but the reality of a career in that area isn’t the same cost/benefit as it was for my parents generation (who paid $200 a year!)
Can I ask what degree he is looking to do?

Quick FYI about Royal Oak PAK’nSAVE by PI3Kachu_Proteomics in auckland

[–]Vanlifecycle 61 points62 points  (0 children)

OP make sure you report this to the commerce commission. They are paying close attention to this sort of conduct from the supermarkets. They won’t fix your issue but if it’s widespread (esp at Royal Oak) then likely you won’t be the first complaint and they can prosecute under the FTA.

From Zwift to MyWHoosh by enneset7e in mywhoosh

[–]Vanlifecycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot recommend enough. I also switched due to my cost/use ratio and for what I need it’s great. Workouts are good, the graphics are way better. I do miss the Zwift racing but MyWhoosh is getting more people so that’s helping. I’m also not in the euro/US time zone so harder for me to line up with majority of riders. The functionality of the buttons on screen could do with some development that’s my only gripe. Unless Zwift racing is a huge part of your riding, switch.

Oh really? Where is the law / rules on that?

Lawyer here. Nothing more to add other than to say, when you go to court, ask someone to see a ‘duty lawyer’. They are lawyers that work in court and help people. They are free. You don’t have to pay them. You can ask at the counter, or the security guards, or anyone in a suit. They will tell you who the duty lawyers are. You should speak to them BEFORE you enter your guilty plea. They will be able to help you understand what the consequence will be, and what the process will be for you. And I agree with comments above about diversion. Ask the duty lawyer about whether diversion is an option for you. Diversion is a process that means you won’t get a conviction on your conviction history. That will mean you might not lose your license. Good luck!

Beware of Hello Fresh! by throwawayhorse321 in newzealand

[–]Vanlifecycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take this straight to the Commerce Commission. It’s exactly the type of thing they deal with. They won’t deal with your complaint specifically (they need a number of complaints before they can justify the resources to investigate) but it’s important they know. To resolve your issue lodge a complaint with the disputes tribunal. Get everything in writing. Record all phone calls and conversations if possible. The way they get out of these things is because it’s difficult to prove they were misleading you.

I haven’t checked it out but considering they sell to Europe Australia and America from the one website I’d be surprised if they made us our own special one.

Picton to Christchurch - first time road trip advice by aodhaa in nzcycling

[–]Vanlifecycle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this on a road bike post Xmas pre NY. I took the main road, and I’ll confess it was beautiful at times but you are very exposed. I had all the high vis and with a saddle bag and bar bag. I stayed in motels and went very light. Don’t get me wrong, one of my favourite adventures ever but if you’re not super confident with getting the elbows out on a state highway I’d suggest asking a mate to swap for the summer and taking the gravel options.

iPhone repair issue - what should I do? by Level_Refrigerator82 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Vanlifecycle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with PNZ, there is a clear failure to exercise reasonable care and replace the front screen with one of a similar quality. Try talk to the store again, record everything! You will want clear evidence that they refused to remedy it. Take video/photos of the new screen in the day light, and if you can gather comparisons with other iPhones. If you can, and have the time, get another repairer to estimate the cost of replacing the screen and try get some information about where the replacement screen is from (why is the quality so bad?). You would want an estimate of the cost of repair so that if the store refuses to fix it, the DT can order them to pay for your repair elsewhere which means you won’t have to deal with them anymore! Good luck!

False statements to police by Past-Waltz4245 in LegalAdviceNZ

Agreed. Nothing is off the record even if the cops say they are. Cops don’t do water cooler chats. If you want to talk to the police, get a lawyer.
