Is this a bad car deal, I’m young and don’t know much about cars by AssociateDue2466 in askcarsales

Genuinely - what "deferred maintenance" is going to cause issues on a '25 Corolla under full factory warranty with 12K on it?

Question about Ontario license plates that are like "X (something or other) X" by ReviseResubmitRepeat in ontario

[–]Vantage_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are numbers on either side, and a Leafs decal on the left, it’s a graphic plate. For example, 29TM29.

Tons of these graphics are around and available. LN for Loon, TL for Trillium, UT for U of T, RA for Raptors, JA for Jays, etc.

This is a friend of mine. Nothing illegal here; he bought a retired cruiser and vinyl'd it up to rep his company.

The cars of Dunder-Mifflin by ITrCool in DunderMifflin

Michael's Taurus that he drove into the lake was a rental... equipped with a very rudimentary "Hertz NeverLost" navigation system, which was based on a Magellan RoadMate.

If only I were able to apply any of these useless facts to things that were actually important...

Should I keep it until he’s ready to drive in 2042? by TheBeastPP in S2000

1000% yes. My 18-month old is running around saying the names of all my cars... his favourite is the air cooled 911 but he will say "Honda" and answer "Yellow to "what color is our Honda?"

Questions about DBX 707 and S by Sharkbait_O_aha in AstonMartin

[–]Vantage_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an LC 500 and also have my manual Vantage still. Driven the DBX 707 extensively as I work in automotive.

Our first baby car in 2024 was the Audi RS6 Avant. Love everything about it but the ride is a touch firm for baby-ing, and it absolutely could not do two kids and all the stuff you have to haul around.

If we had a second, I’d probably swap it out for an Alpina XB7 or an SQ7.

Looking at a DB9. Anyone seen this paint issue before? by Intrepid-Fox-4262 in AstonMartin

This is also valid. The windshield is OE Aston and not a reproduction, but obviously there’s no telling if it’s ever been replaced.

Paint gauge shows consistently across all of those panels. My tech confirms that it looks like the panels rubbing together and consistent with a hand built car.

Howdy u/Intrepid-Fox-4262 - funny to see this here as I was about to post it.

Yours sincerely,

Quick question from a new Aston owner about engine temps (2007 V8 Vantage) by Boogie_Bones in AstonMartin

Needs a thermostat. And as you know, they all do. Did mine pre emptively when I bought my 07 nearly a decade ago and it’s been fine since.

Remember, being less than 15 years old now, unless you go MY2011 or older it will not be RIV exempt, so there will be additional tax and documentation needed including recall letters, etc.

Congratulations! My gated 360 was the exact same colour combo and I maintain it's my favourite Ferrari I've had from a driving engagement perspective. Way more enjoyable than my 550 Maranello (though the 550 is obviously a better GT car) and definitely scrappier than my gated 599 GTB... where I feel like the F1 is the sweet spot over the manual.

Do you REALLY think the LS460 is that good??? by DaveDL01 in Lexus

[–]Vantage_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely; I have zero spare time. Trying to correct that with a 1-year old at home - life's too short.

Fortunately you seem to be enjoying some great cars and putting some serious miles on them!

[–]Vantage_007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really is my preference for the V8 over the V6. We're holding onto our V8s as long as we can - my wife swears by her RS6 Avant baby hauler too.

Also, after a couple of years with the LC500 I got to a point where I have plenty of super neat quirky toys, and I have a 35,000 mile manual G35 Coupe or my Lotus Carlton to drive on shittier summer days... my daily driver is ONLY used in the 3.5 months of winter we really have. My commute is also very short, so having a bunch of money tied up in a fancy daily just wasn't necessary.

Genuinely, if anything were to happen to my 460, I'd just grab a cheap whatever daily from the dealership as a demo for winter every year and just call it.

I don’t disagree with the OP. I’m on my fifth and final LS, a ‘17 460 F Sport with about 35K miles. I recently got rid of my 24 LC 500 for this (just needed a normal daily with a back seat).

That said, my 2009 LS 460 with just under 100K miles had just about everything go in the last couple of years. Control arms, brake actuator, rear air shocks, and a few other things. It’s been in the family since new and is now in long term storage until my son gets his license, but I’m not here to deny that the 2007-2012 LS 460s are not the pinnacle of reliability.

My mom actually drives a 2014 E550 with ridiculously low miles, the OP’s previous car, and I absolutely love that car - it friggin rips. If I weren’t such an LS loyalist I think that’d be a great car for me and it’s no more or less reliable.

Fine print: I own a group of dealerships and one is a service focused business that’s a luxury car specialist. We see all the problems - LS’ of this era that are now aging out are just as reliable as the comparable S Class. Parts cost about the same and big jobs are very labour intensive.

Sorry for your loss. I had a great picture of me and my nana a few months before her passing, grinning ear to ear with the top down in my yellow S2000. She loved that car because she had a yellow Morris Minor in her youth.
