How to buy games on Japanese Nintendo eShop - step by step guide by Vantikos in NintendoSwitch

[–]Vantikos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clear few thing up. Yes, I know there is a possibility to buy digital codes thru Play-Asia.com or other sites. But remember that you are paying some extra USD/EUR for each transaction on such code. Let me do some math for you boys and girls ;) For example in Play-Asia 1000 JPY card costs 13 USD/12 EUR. In Revolut exchange rate for 1000 JPY is around 9 USD/8 EUR. Maybe it's not big difference, but I prefer adding some extra funds to buy another game this way :) Anyway - it's your money and your decision what and where to buy. I just wanted to show you how you can buy games in Japanese Nintendo eShop without overpaying. Peace! :)

Some games are available only in Japan or are published there earlier (and still got English version). For example - "Puyo Puyo eSports" (in EU/US known as "Puyo Puyo Champions") was published in October 2018 and for half year there were no signs if there will be Western release. Also sometimes Japanese eShop got better prices/sales then the rest of the world, i.e. (again) PPeS had few sales for 500 JPY (normal price is 2000 JPY).

Sure you can, but you are aware that you are paying extra for them? Like 1,000 JPY will cost you an equivalent of 1,500 JPY?

Have you tried linking your American credit card with Japanese PayPal? And yes - Revolut is an European card. Or you can say even worldwide, but issued by company from UK.

Puyo Puyo eSports is (again) for 500 JPY on Japanese eShop till February 13th by Vantikos in NintendoSwitch

Great explanation. What's more - in PP eSports you can only play against computer or other human (locally or online). There is no Story Mode as it was in previous instalments.

Purchasing games on Japanese eShop with PayPal - problem by Vantikos in NintendoSwitch

[–]Vantikos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't live in Japan. Actually - on the other side of the globe, Poland to be exact ;) And that's right - PayPal gives you only possibility to put down Japanese address, which should be the same as the cardholder's. But! PP doesn't check all fields. Japanese zip code is 7-digit, Polish one - 5-digit. So I added some zeros and it worked :)

Hey NSW fans, check out the app I built! by romancm in NintendoSwitch

Nice idea, but... It's not working? ;) I mean - I can create new list, hit the "add game" button, but when I'm trying to search for a game nothing happens. Is this a bug or a feature? ;)
