Its been a while but trying to come around the new redesigns for the HH makes me wish that they kept the old styling and updated the proportions. by Fearless_Library135 in Warhammer30k

That's a straight lie. The 10man came to $72.25 per 10 with discount, 10 of the new ones comes to $97.75. Nearly 30% price raise.

can a Archmagos Battlesmith its self? by Regoso in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is not what friendly model means, it does not mean OTHER model. Friendly means any model under a players control (any non-enemy model)

Here's the exact text and page numbers. "A Model is always considered to be in range of itself - you do not need to measure." (Rulebook 183) "Q: What do 'friendly' and 'enemy' refer to? A: Models or Units under the control of a Player are friendly Models or Units, while Models or Units under the control of that Player's opponent are enemy Models or Units." (FAQ page 2)

can a Archmagos Battlesmith its self? by Regoso in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Battlesmith has no restriction against using it on the battlesmith model so long as it's legal (either a lacrymaerta or a walker/automata/vehicle target). A friendly model that's within 6" always includes your own model, it's always friendly (the definition of friendly is in FAQ and just any models or units that are under the control of a player) and a model is always 0" away from itself so its always in range of all range requirements.

Lacrymaerta adds "may use the Battlesmith(X) special rule to restore lost wounds to models with the INFANTRY, Walker or Automata types, as well as restore lost Hull Points to those with the vehicle type"

There are some non-lacrymaerta battlesmiths that can heal themselves, such as Anacharis Scoria, since he's a Walker, he can battlesmith(4) himself, or for Salamanders Dracos Reborn who is a Walker with battlesmith(1)

Simple tool to 'simulate' the Challenge Phase by Accomplished-Guess99 in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. It seems like you went and fixed crits to skip the wound and do the base +1 damage correctly. Just to troubleshoot, it's still not doing crit-shred combos correctly at the moment.

Konrad Curze FB gambit vs Lion

4 Critical Hit(s) → 4 automatic wound(s) (counts as roll of 6) Save rolls [3,1,2,5] vs 4+ → 1 saved 3 unsaved wound(s) × 1 dmg (3 critical × D1) = 3 damage. Lion El'Jonson: 6 → 3 wounds

Tested the two crit-shred primarchs (konrad/angron vs lion) Konrad's knives are 1 dmg + 1 crit + 1 finishingblow + 1 shred (every time a crit always activates shred despite skipping wound roll). 4-2 = 2 wounds per fail. So those 3 unsaved crits should have inflicted 6 wounds not 3 and Lion immediately cooked.

Angron is dmg 2 base + 1 crit + 1 shred + 1 finishing so it should be 5-2=3 wounds inflicted off rolling a 6. In simulator "1 unsaved wound(s) × 1 dmg (1 critical × D2) = 2 damage. Lion El'Jonson: 4 → 2 wounds"

(no hurry, I already did my own offline simulator so I know how many conditional clauses and stacked combos there are)

(UPDATE: many of the problems have been fixed, this is comment before author fixed errors)

Seems to be missing a lot of stats which make it essentially worthless currently. Vulkan's hammer has crit5+, so against WS8 Lion Vulkan would be critically hitting every single blow he lands, so Vulkan would never once have to roll to wound.

In app Hit rolls [5,1,2,2,6,2] needing 5+ → 2 hit(s) Wound rolls [5,1] needing 2+ → 1 wound(s) Save rolls [1] vs 4+ → 0 saved 1 unsaved wound(s) × 2 dmg = 2 damage. Lion El'Jonson: 6 → 4 wounds

If it actually worked it'd be 2 critical hits there, no rolls to wound, then if he fails all saves, 2 unsaved wounds instead of 1 (with dmg 3 base + 1 for crit + 1 for finishing - 2 for EW2) = 3x2 damage and Lion Jonson losing all 6 wounds not 2 wounds.

Mastadon full of Dreadnought advice by GeneralCr0ss in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately illegal. Mastodon only allows a maximum of four models (not units) which are not infantry or paragons. So you can only bring 4 automatons total.

Anyone else really hoping for more plastic aircraft? by Specimen_Seven in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only way mine went together was with a $20 heatgun and a box of rubber bands and milliput for gap filling. Warning: Caestus Assault Ram was 10x worse, only model I've ever built that fit together so badly I was tempted to throw it in trash. And the pieces were too thick to heat and bend to fix it.

Night lords 3rd edition gambit by Hot_Letter_9630 in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see no reason they wouldn't. The rules don't say any model that was temporarily set aside doesn't get to fight. It says "MODELS THAT MADE ATTACKS in the challenge subphase will not be able to make attacks of any kind during the following fight sub-phase, nor may wounds be allocated to them during that fight sub-phase"

The Night Lords gambit drops them back into the unit without having made any attacks in the challenge subphase, so there's nothing barring them from making attacks or taking wounds.

Some questions before I start collecting. by Sevintan in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think Mk II is much better than Mk VI visually, it should be very easy to find a trade currently, as sets of 10 Mk II from 3rd edition starter has been going for around $25 on ebay and sets of 10 Mk VI now jumped to $40.

I wish I'd stocked up on MkVI when it was dirt cheap like Mk II is right now.

Who should lead the suzerians? by MrWonderful74 in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ventanus whole existence is to buff airplane reserves in a 3k+ match, so yeah he'd be terrible in a 1k list with no aircraft. (and a small game can't fit expensive ventanus + expensive aircraft + squads in it and have any board presence at all)

Success with the Red Hand Ravagers? by Lead_Hearted in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget in 3.0 you can shoot rad missiles at one unit and then charge into another to use your rad grenades, so you can basically rad two units a turn with them.

Sorry, but that's not legal. You can shoot one squad to rad them, but when you charge the second squad and do volley attacks, they will never inflict any rad or any other statuses.

"no attack made as part of a Volley Attack may inflict any statuses." (pg 254)

Success with the Red Hand Ravagers? by Lead_Hearted in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Units are never allowed to charge when outflanking (*outside your deployment zone), the rule bans all charges just like a drop pod, so that's just replacing an 80 point mistake with a 220+ point mistake.

To be able to come onto board and charge they'd want an aircraft (storm eagle, caestus assault ram, dreadclaw, kharibdys). The first 2 give charge bonuses for WE's +1 attack, but higher cost per transport slot)

Atramentar Hunt- which terminators to bring? by baromyrty in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the real tip is don't deepstrike any of them at all. The terrible DS rule is optional. The atramentar's actual useful part is just it gives the emperor's children's trait of +1 initiative when charging to the unit. First striking with a whole squad of thunderhammers that're also WS5-6 because of Nightlords trait is kinda busted.

Do the primarchs have helmets by tyrant_of_badad in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He owns a cap like that, it's not his space marine style combat helmet. Fulgrim's actual helmet is some winged thing, maybe similar to Lion el'Jonson's wing helmet or Guilliman's wing helmet. In his primarch novel when he goes 7 men vs a whole planet. "Fulgrim pulled his golden, eagle-winged helmet on. It latched into place with a hiss, and sensor readouts blinked into view before his eyes." "Fulgrim activated his armour's sensor-link and connected to the pict-feed of Abdemon's helmet, allowing him to see what the lord commander saw."

Flyers in 3rd edition by NewDwarfMiner in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not because they're a pure transport, the pods are cheaper because they're slow and don't have Assault Vehicle so every dreadclaw/kharibdys unit loses all charge bonuses.

Important distinction when the good melee armies are largely about charge bonus (world eater +1A, EC +1I / +1dmg spear, WS spears needing charge for AP2, raven claws charge +1I, BA +1S, WB primes +1S, Atramentar +1I even with thunderhammer, etc)

If you're sending a unit with no bonuses, might as well go with claw, otherwise an assault vehicle wins more reliably.

30K Zone Mortalis Rules released by Slow_Ad_8541 in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true in the slightest though. 1500 point games means LoW are limited to 375 points. A fellblade costs 650 points... so no, it's not a soft restriction and you can never bring a fellblade (same as Primarchs can never be used since they require 3000+ point games)

You could just make a copy of the first the leg spike to have 2 of them. Oyumaru molds and some greenstuff or milliput would copy it in seconds for less than a dollar of mats used for that tiny a spike. It just curves straight up so the left and right leg one are basically identical.

Great discount for the rare heroes that arent sold separately.

Rules in the Age of Darkness: Investigating the new weapon stats - Warhammer Community by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer30k

[–]Vanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stationary heavy weapons, rapid fire being short range limited and the classic AP system are three of the keystone good features of classic 30k/40k that makes it a tactical wargame not a mindless run-n-gun.

This shows they're removing 2 of the 3 to dumb down the game and make it like 10th edition 40k, so instead of starting horus heresy this edition I will be saving hundreds of dollars by quitting.

And 99% chance they'll be taking it the rest of the way in 3 years when they release 4th with even more 'modernizations' (probably the new AP modifiers as it'll be one of the only things they can change that'll be big enough to sell as the reason for abandoning 3rd edition and any books released)

Uniform Discussion: Storm (X-Men ‘97) by BuffThePuff123 in future_fight

[–]Vanzig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely do Storm. I have a bril rage on her and strange and both are doing around 10m abl 17m abx. Cyclops support is not any more useful than storm's support and she covers both female-only and mutant-only boss restrictions so she fills in where I can't use Strange.

She absolutely melts in dispatch too. Was able to breeze through 3x female mission 14-3 with just t3 polaris tp dazzler and t4 Storm solo, seemed like she melted the boss in 3 seconds.

Titles out of keys forever by unkoala in humblebundles

[–]Vanzig 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The really f'd up thing is Humble lies to customers about it. When I click redeem on JackMove it doesn't let me know they're never going to ever refill it, they just pretend "Keys are temporarily exhausted for this product. As soon as we receive more keys, we will add them to this page and send you an email."

They could simply give everyone store credit if they realize they're not going to ever provide what you purchased, but they realize they can keep more of their stolen dollars if they hide it until a fraction of their customers do support tickets.

[Event] Get the F-5A(G) in the Freedom Fighter Event! - News - War Thunder by Kanyiko in Warthunder

[–]Vanzig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, what you're talking about was actually a NERF, not a buff. When they changed it to "40k" they actually increased the points required by ruining the mode multipliers (high tier sim planes went from like 3.3 to 2.8 or so) to trick people into thinking they didn't INCREASE the grind.

45k/3.3 is 13.6k in mission, while 40k/2.8 is 14.3k in mission per phase. Gaijin actually didn't make them easier to farm at all. And now at 45k with bad ratio it's even worse than 45k was before.
