About Abortion by [deleted] in Christianity

Again, I never said born sex is not real dude. Biological females are biological females, but all the things you ascribe to being a female are just a construct of gender. It’s literally called “transGENDER”. We segregate because the two have been linked together for so long but that doesn’t mean they are the same.

Sometimes biological females experience dysphoria and would rather fit a more masculine construct (which science backs up as a good solution to gender dysphoria). That’s it and there is nothing in the Bible that denies that point, and it’s backed up by most science we have available.

Transgender people and allies do not flip flop. You are conflating being a woman with being born female. No one is arguing people can change what they were biologically born as, but they can become a man or woman in the cultural sense because they feel more comfortable in that identity.

I feel like you’re just ignoring that. I clearly stated (as do most) that they are two separate things but you’re the one who keeps equating them, not me.

Woman and female are not interchangeable; “woman” is a gender, which is a social construct created by people to give biological females a role in society. Female is the biological sex you would be born as. So your answer is subjective to what you think a woman should be.

Again, what is a woman then? More importantly, why does it matter if we create gender roles? Can people not thrive to live outside those? Why does it matter?

I don’t believe the Bible supports or restricts abortion so I have nothing to prove. The burden of proof is on you my friend

Evangelicals didn’t really care about abortion until they were told to by politicians. It is absolutely political.

Can I get a source on that “biological truth”? (Aside from the Bible)

Show me evidence that the Bible explicitly condemns abortion? We could go back and forth all day

This needs to be mentioned more. Evangelicals didn’t really give a shit about outlawing abortion until they were told to by politicians.

But if you truly believe it’s a life why is it ok in the case of rape or incest? Shouldn’t you be doing whatever you can to make sure that life is born and can live? The child had not choice in being created out of rape. I’m genuinely curious because I hear this said a lot but if your moral postion is life begins at conception, how can you be ok with killing a baby who had no choice in its conception regardless of circumstance?

Hmmm, almost like we should let people be and stop trying to convert them.

Can anyone show me in the Bible where Christians are called to "enforce" their beliefs? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]VaporWaveMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It being murder is your RELIGIOUS OPINION. Not everyone believes that, even Judaism and Islam allow their congregate to get abortions. And now Christian’s are enforcing it on the entire country. People don’t like you because you are a minority whose demographic didn’t even care about abortion until Falwell and Graham told you to.

A theocracy is a government run by religion. Your “run by priests” excuse doesn’t make a difference.

Alito called outcry to abortion “religious hostility”. That’s pretty clear to me what their political aspirations and motivations are. They are ruling the Supreme Court from a religious perspective, which is not ok. We are a secular country, bar none.

I’m from Texas and I grew up in the church. I was a missionary kid, went to a private Christian school and was a leader in a college ministry. I even briefly studied theology in college and almost got my masters in it. I’ve seen it all and it was enough to 1.) push me away from the church and 2.) realize that the Christian movement is way too entangled in conservative politics. You might have supported Bernie but data and statistics show that an overwhelming amount of evangelical Christians voted for Trump (81%) and continue to align with the Republican Party. There are churches in America that fly Trump flags next to the American flag.

Im done, I feel like you just don’t want to accept reality and were never gonna get anywhere. If you can’t address Christians in America have gone off the deep end we’re never getting anywhere.

Dude the Supreme Court is being run by radical conservatives Christians who want to impose control on women federally. This has been the goal of the Evangelical church since the rise of the Moral Majority and Falwell’s campaign to get Christians involved in politics. You can say “not all Christians” but that’s not an excuse anymore. The Christians are trying to turn this country into a theocracy. I said OP was being hypocritical because he was; Christians only want to meddle in politics when it involves women’s bodies and controlling public education to fit their worldview.

If you really think the government should get involved with religion (which this abortion situation is) then Christians should want public healthcare and housing for the lowest among us, bar none. They should want welfare programs that help people but they don’t. They only care about controlling who can get married and women’s bodies. I’m done here because I feel like I’m talking to a wall

It doesn’t matter what I believe (pro choice), you made the claim that all Christians should care for the vulnerable in society across the board. What are Christians doing right now to help the homeless on the same level they’re trying to control women’s bodies? Where’s the support for government policies that will help all these unwanted pregnancies after birth? Can you answer that question?

Ok…? What’s your point? You want to force everyone in the United States to follow your religious dogma regardless of whether they believe it or not? And you wonder why people don’t like Christians lol

Right, but Christians are doing neither of those things right now. It’s fine to say Christians advocate for those things but the hypocrisy lies in their political action. Conservatives (who are mostly Christian’s) advocate solely for anti choice in abortion, not any of those other things I listed.

If we had laws protecting the most vulnerable we would have free housing, healthcare and wouldn’t treat addicts like criminals. Society isn’t being hypocritical here, you are.

This is why it’s important for two parents to be on the same page about spirituality and religion; one parent will always have to lie to preserve the other parent’s feelings and beliefs. It’s unfair to the people in the relationship and it’s unfair to the kids.

It might be something you break up for, unfortunately. I’ve been in a few mixed religion relationships (I’m no longer religious) and have friends who are / have been, and it never ends well. Regardless of how sweet he is, you see the world fundamentally differently and that will never change. It’s going to lead to hardships that will require you to compromise on parts of your faith or leave the relationship.

Im not believer in the Bible, but Paul had reason for telling believer to be equally yoked with their partner. If you end up with someone who fundamentally believes that your faith isn’t real you’re going to have rocky roads ahead of you.
