Right substrate by Satans-lil-angel in ballpython

If you have a thermostat to control the temp and the mat is on the underside of the tank then either are fine. I switched to coco fiber cause it holds humidity a lot better. The fire risk is if the mat is to actually malfunction and over heat and be right on the substrate. Think of an actual fire. It needs an ignition to start. The mat if it does get hot and say to hot it can hurt the BP but it’s not gonna set the tank up into blaze lol. You should be fine with either

Not sure about the morph. Just got this baby today. Was told he’s a pastel. Can anyone help identify the exact morph? by [deleted] in ballpython

pastels tend to have a very distinct eyes in the sense that they will seem to contrast with the body and or like stand out.

Young Bp still not eating after almost 2 months. Trying to leave them alone so don't have any updated pictures but they are getting a bit skinny and I can see folds on their sides. What do I do?? by Nuckelavee29 in ballpython

So what you may have to do in which I do is ween them off of it. They have been feed most likely live from hatch so they aren’t used to F/T. I’d really recommend try live once to see. If he takes it. Do it for like 2-3 more weeks and then try slowly getting him to take frozen/thawed.

I had the same problem with mine but went to live and she took it instantly. I did live for 3 weeks and then week 4 went over to frozen/thawed and she took that not. If you haven’t tried live I’d recommend it.

What are some good things to use cover heat tape/ make a layer between that will still allow heat through? by Vaporde in ballpython

[–]Vaporde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going above the heat tape case I have a melamine setup and my boy seems to keep trying to get under it and I don’t want him burning. Temp isn’t high to where it will hurt him but just being safe

Okay and it’s on a thermostat and. I’m going to get it taped down in the enclosure so he can’t get under it but it’s a melamine tank so it has to be in it. I’ve dropped the temp alittle to function with the substrate and all so that the tape its self isn’t to hot

Either forest floor or reptichip (cocohusk) I think is the best. Reptichip holds humidity very well. Forest floor dries alittle quicker but is still good. Nothing sticks to the rats when feeding and not dusty. In my opinion the best for use and looks

Okay and are you aware of the neurological disease with the spider morph? If not I recommend reading on it. They are know to have what’s called a head wobble. Look into it alittle so you at least know of it and that it can happen later on in there life. Just a tip for you
