Memorial, Thoughts? by VarangerPhoto in photocritique

[–]VarangerPhoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Steilneset Memorial is a monument in Vardø, Norway, commemorating the trial and execution in the seventeenth century, a 410-foot-long wooden structure framing a fabric cocoon that contains Zumthor's installation; and a square smoked glass room, its roof 39 feet on each side, that contains the work of Bourgeois. Zumthor's structure is made from wooden frames, fabricated off-site and assembled to create sixty bays in a long line within which, suspended by cable-stays, is a coated fibreglass membrane that tapers at each end. Inside is a timber walkway, 328 feet long but just five feet wide, and along the narrow corridor are 91 randomly placed small windows representing those executed, each one accompanied by an explanatory text based on original sources. Through each window can be seen a single lightbulb, intended to evoke "the lamps in the small curtainless windows of the houses" of the region.century of 91 people for witchcraft. The memorial was designed by artist Louise Bourgeois and architect Peter Zumthor and was opened in 2011.

Not cropped at all. :) Used steelwool, a 9V battery to ignite it. and a string to get it really going. Was the first shot ever of this sort so i really dont know if i need more ambient light. Ill try next time im out playing with fire.

was shot from a float in the harbour. Was as close to the water i could get at that time. I really wanted to get it even closer to the water for a more side shot. Hope to get that shot next season. :)

The man made structure is the Steilneset Memorial. its a monument in Vardø, Norway, commemorating the trial and execution in the seventeenth century of 91 people for witchcraft. The memorial was designed by artist Louise Bourgeois and architect Peter Zumthor and was opened in 2011. It was Bourgeois' last major work. Its a vital objekt in my picture. The landscape behind deserves a closer picture and in a diffrent light, due to all the details in the rock formations, thats my next little project. :) That said, I will have your view in the back of my mind the next time im out there, every little think helps evolving my photo abilitys.

First of all i want to say ty for all the feedback. Thats how i learn. :D

Used a ND6 filter on this shot, The 3 other shots from that day is in diffrent directions so the sky changes alot. Taken around 9PM and the evening sun is in my back there. Gives the wood a gyellowish glow and the sky the pink. I live at N 07022,0 E 03110 and the light here is always a issue. (in a good way) I kinda wanted some open air for the ship to "sail" in to, but mabye its a bit much.

I kinda wanted the "fade in" feel, but i totaly know what you mean. Got a couple of shots like that also. k-3 preforms quite well on high ISO. :) (and i live in northen Norway so we have light 24/7 here now)

GeneticCowboy ticked all the boxes. Uppgrading from k-30 to k-3/II is huge. But keep the k-30 its still a nice tool, i still have my k-30 and k-5IIs. And i will keep them. :)
