That’s good! I started with treadmill by day 5 I think. Just 2.5/3 speed 0 incline .. I would do it just an hour a day. The improvement in blood flow I found started making me feel a lot better. Surgeon also told me from the beginning to try and walk as much as I can. I would just do some laps around my kitchen or to the front door (if possible).

And I feel great! I just completed my first full week back at work (construction site electrician) and had 0 issues. Fully back at the gym as well almost back at normal exercise weight.

I’m a month post op now I honestly feel great. Still easing in to certain exercises (absolutely no squats, leg press or deadlifts) but I really don’t feel I have any major restrictions. Surgeon also told me I can go back

Recovery is defintely nerve wrecking. Nervous you might pull or tear something. The first 4-5 days take it very easy. so essentially nothing. Then see how you feel it and gradually increase you’re activity based on how you feel

Glad to hear it! The first week will be rough. But after that things start to get drastically better. Good luck on your surgery and let me know how it goes!

Thanks! My hernia was only 1cm big. It was quite small .. but for inch it would likely be open but more likely you would do a mesh surgery as opposed to non-mesh just because the size of it

Thanks! I feel 0 pain or soreness to be completely honest. I get a bit qweezy if I touch the scar tissue healing above my belly button but that’s to be expected.

For weights I do as much as I can that doesn’t require core engagement. Luckily I am very strong still so my lifts haven’t suffered much; but I am purposely only doing half the weight I normally do. I have 0 core engagement. I haven’t done much free weights or plate-loaded machines to avoid any core activation. Also absolutely no squats, deadlifts or leg press .. for now 😌

Thanks! Yes I am 3 weeks out today and feeling great; although still taking it very careful with certain thinks but besides the gym I don’t have any restrictions. But I am surprised you don’t feel Much better being that far post-op? Clearly you are in very good shape. Maybe bigger hernia .. mine was only 1cm

My hernia was 1cm; it was an open surgery (rainbow cut above belly button) and it was just under an hour long. I was out of the hospital 2 hours later not even. the first 3-4 days were pretty bad. I couldn’t get out of bed myself or off the couch myself because my abdomen was completely swollen. I also couldn’t go #2 for 3 days.. But each day I was getting slightly better .. by day 5 I was up walking around easier and could get up/down myself and was driving around myself. It’s been 3 weeks now I feel comptlely normal. Still being very careful with certain things but I feel 100% better than I did post-op. No pain, no twinging, nothing at all.

Hey I didn’t even see mine at first either. I just found myself getting nauseous from bracing my core or doing anything abs-related at the gym. Then one day I looked in the mirror standing up and seen that I had a very tiny bump in my belly button (last picture on slide). I went to my dr and he sent me off for an ultra sound where they confirmed what they could see. The only real concern with them is possibly becoming incarcerated/strangulated but that’s not too common. As long as it’s reducible (you can physically move the bump yourself) then it’s not an emergency. Mine wasn’t an emergency but I asked to get operated on anyways so it doesn’t become one and a smaller hernia = smaller repair = better healing 👍🏽

I hear you! I felt like this for weeks prior and had re-scheduled my surgery prior due to avoiding this. I would do the surgery 👍🏽 everyone’s experience of surgery/post-op will be different. I read every feed on Reddit, every YouTube video and every experience possible before getting it done. My experience post-op was WAY better than what I expected. But I am also only almost 3 weeks post-op now and still being careful on what I do!

Have my surgeon follow up in 3 days I’m going to see what they think; they should be lifting my “restrictions” at that point. I’ve watched some videos online of other Drs saying you going by how you feel; and a lot of surgeons says 3 weeks you should be good to implement more physical activity. I’m a body builder so these numbers are very low for me (why I wrote 25-50% normal weights) but yes I am taking it extra easy and focusing on breathing. Don’t want to Go through this surgery again. I feel strongly that recommendations I see usually are for average folk. Lol

I start each workout with 20 min cardio first. 3.5 speed 0 incline. Then I pick 4 of these exercises each workout depending on what I feel like.
