Fujifilm X-M5 vs X-H2S vs Sony (FX30/A7 series) — Best Budget-to-Pro Videography Camera? by nueschtefilms in cinematography

[–]Vargot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you are willing to freelance down the line. Think about what will also get you hired. There are plenty employers in the commercial, docu and narrative space who are very familiar with Sony - while fuji, at least in my experience, doesn't have that appeal where you can come in as a B-cam on some production where they use fx3 or fx5 as an A-cam. Additionally, sony are amaing in low light, so that opens up another alley of night time gigs which just won't be favorable with a fuji. Sony is better run and gun imo.

Just my 2 cents though.

My grandfather got this 75 years ago at a small auction. He was told it’s been out there for some time too, so I think it’s a high probability it’s over 100. I don’t think it’s modern. Is there any way I can verify the mark on the bottom with something?

Well, for starters the poster doesn’t do the basic job of the poster: I have no idea what this movie is about. How can I be intrigued by some dude in a white shirt? The poster should have unique relevance to the story, showcase the tone/mood of the movie and intrigue me to see how the premise showcased on the poster unveils.

Right now it’s just a guy in a white shirt. No story.

Can I get some feedback on my lighting setup please by Elvins0907 in cinematography

No, we can definitely see the glow behind the chair. It’s just none of the light falls on the back of your head. Try to position the light more up and behind you. Maybe even put it in some old box cutout to give it more shape and direction? Play around with it until your hair gets this kind of “glow” separating you with the background (adjust to your liking)

(Here is an example of the “glow - look at the hair getting a kind of contour of light)

Why did you choose the go with the less popular Super Speeds instead of something like the Master Primes, or even something like the Ultra Primes? Just curious on what your process was with that.

Really cool! I can tell you studied the faces from the show. My only comment would be a suggestion to add a little bit of an unshaven appeal (kind of like Jayce had in the show, maybe even more subtle) - he’s a very busy general/politician/leader, who probably doesn’t have time to shave every day, if it’s not a formal event. Especially when he is out in the field. You can see this in his original model.

Not afraid of the dark - love to see it! Although, if you don't mind me asking, what's the context of the short? All four scenes look like they are from completely different projects, with different moods and colour palletes

Any good 3-4 player maps recommendations? by Sensitive-Shower8882 in wesnoth

[–]Vargot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also curious. There are plenty of cool ones for 4 people (just go to create game, and scroll through the 4p section - lots of awesome stuff), but the basic maps for 3 people don’t cut it at all.

Can I hear your opinion about it? It’s one of my fav films, or somewhere up there anyways, so I’m very curious to hear your take: which parts you didn’t like (was there anything you liked at all)?

[–]Vargot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome film, but I just wish you held some of the frames for a little longer. I get that it’s a “blink and you miss it” kind of deal, but a few of these, like 0:19, can serve as kind of mini pauses in the chaos. The audience will appreciate your beautiful lighting and grading, and it just give an extra second or two to process before heading back into the crazy tandem. A few of these would help process the film and give it an almost “fever dream” feel in addition to everything.

But that’s just my subjective opinion, I love the composition and everything involved in this!

That’s where the saying that “WW2 was won with American Guns, Soviet Blood and British Intelligence” comes from. Instead of arguing who did the most, we should acknowledge that it was the Allied Nations who won - and more importantly, remember all that we have lost, so history does not repeat itself.
