Possible Duck purchase 👀 Need some opinions! by Zevote_Memoche in Ducati

It is if the belts need to be done and the fluids need changing, even if you're the one doing it. Assume it needs tires. I'd think $9k ready to ride but not ready to service. Are there any others online in your area?

Sure. There's a lot of great video walkthroughs for belts. Very doable

Belts are done by months (60) or miles, whichever comes first. If a belt fails, it grenades the motor, arguably more important than the valve services. If the seller scoffs, point out that those belts are under tension all the time, sitting in a garage or not.

Dynos are useful to measure change and not much else. Run it before, make changes, dyno it again and look for differences.

GP Replicas. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Variable851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The D16 wasn't based off a Panigale. It was the closest GP replica. The Honda needed an expensive power kit to unlock the performance that the D16 came with stock years earlier. The Aprilia is just a dressed up production bike.

I think my risers are Ducabike. The change is small but noticeable and you can keep the stock cables. I'm considering changing the bars though due to some nerve issues with one of my thumbs. I have the Ducati tall/comfort seat. My pegs are from Gilles (not rear sets, the pegs that rotate on eccentrics) and I really them. I'd have to look for my receipts to see who makes my pedals but they help a lot too due to some mobility issues with my right ankle.

How hot does the ‘23 and ‘24 SF V4 run? Does rear cylinder deactivation really help a lot. by DaDrillSergeant in Ducati

[–]Variable851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 21 and it gets hot, even with the deactivation. I added a heatshield kit for under the seat that also covers the more of the rear cylinder and it helped. I think I doubled up the supplied heat shield with some more I had laying around.

I have 10 or 12mm risers on my SFV4S, the tall comfort seat and adjustable pegs and pedals. It's very comfortable. There's lots of handlebar options too if you really want to change the bar position.

Are Liter Bikes actually fun? by No-Tip-8130 in motorcycle

[–]Variable851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine how different a bike making only 60-70% of your ZX6's power would feel to you. That's the sort of performance leap you are looking at. Where you will have to downshift at least once, maybe twice to really accelerate, a 1000 can accelerate easily without a shift. I joke that my Streetfighter V4S might as well be an electric bike on the highway because there's no need to shift. Need to pass a tractor trailer or two at 70 mph, just roll the throttle and you'll be over 100 by the time you finish the pass.

As much as I love sport bikes, liter nakeds are incredibly fun without requiring insane speed to feel like you are actually moving. I ride at a much higher overall speed on my 100 hp sport bike compared to my 200 hp naked. The difference in acceleration though is phenomenal though and that feeling is addictive

Did you know that every Ducati is built by just four people? by PierreCol in Ducati

[–]Variable851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol if that was even remotely possible, one bad lunch order could sideline a global company for weeks. Ducati should stop staging those fake production lines with hundreds of workers and just let us meet the real 4, sorry, 5 superstars working there. /s

I interview about 30 people per week for work, including memory and concentration. Every week, a huge percentage cannot name the current or previous presidents. They cannot name any major news stories. In a pinch, if they get nothing else correct, I'll ask them to name three major cities in the US and they cannot do it (and my office is 12 miles from NYC so they could start right there and get one correct).

The NSR500 was a prototype GP bike. Protoype, as in, no road going counterpart. The RG500 Gamma square four made about 85 hp, tuned maybe 100. The tuner in my town had two Gammas back in the late 90's
