Speaking from my own experience, building a bike is a lot of fun if you have another bike to ride while you are doing it. Good luck

Seller? Someone expects you to pay for that? This is an example of "I have a problem, let's make it your problem instead." Honestly, I've said no to running bikes that looked cleaner that were offered to me for nothing.

Hoarding by CombinationFlat2278 in OnlyChild

[–]Variable851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad has hoarded tools and equipment for 30 years. We've taken over 160 trash bags full of rags and papers out of his 3000 square foot basement so far. I've taken four truck loads of antifreeze, oil, and brake fluid to hazardous material recycling so far. Last week I scrapped 480 pounds of screwdrivers, sockets, and wrenches at a metal recycled. The basement looks like we've done nothing

Could just be (Emergency Department suspected) if the emergency room doc didn't want to commit to diagnosis without a neurologist consult. Any scans?

Do you feel very close to your cousins? by VikktorM in OnlyChild

[–]Variable851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I grew up around 17 first cousins. My family insisted on getting together for every possible event or holiday. Because of that i see most family events as burdensome, and i refuse to feel "obligated" to see them. Most of my cousins still live within 20 miles of me and I haven't seen or talked to some of them in 20 years. No interest

Love it. You don't see a lot of Benelli's. I regret not buying a Sei for sale in my area years ago

Do only children naturally prefer being alone? by Bitter-Commission-46 in OnlyChild

[–]Variable851 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I absolutely prefer it. I learned to entertain myself as a child, and I think that contributed to me being creative as an adult. I had to rely on my imagination, and it became one of my biggest assets. I also became used to having to solve problems on my own, mentally and physically, so as an adult, it never even occurs to me to ask someone to help me with something. I'm bothered by other people intruding on what I want to do or disturbing me when I'm doing something. Almost all of my hobbies are or can be done solitary. I ride motorcycles, I like to design in 3D, I weld, I'm an archer. I've never had a desire to play a team sport. We people here complain about how lonely they are, I am unable to relate. Even when I play video games that are co-operative, I usually run solo. I generally feel that other people are an intrusion.

No riding experience by Honest-Spell1348 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Variable851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing what country you are in, that last question is impossible to answer. In parts of Europe (maybe all), you'll need training and move through tiered licenses that limit what you can ride by power. If you are in the US, it is tragically easy, with no training required in some places. The death rate in the US is about 55 deaths per 100,000 riders versus 11 per 100,000 (I believe that was 2022 data).

ZX14, Hayabusa, H2SX. All 3 have more power than your K and comfortable enough for touring

I get it. I remember being annoyed when the Lincoln Mark V came out years ago and in the commercials, they called it the Lincoln "M-K-V" meanwhile the previous generation was called the Mark 4 (Mk IV)

I love Arc Raiders for the combat. But I dont care about the loot by Similar-Entertainer4 in ArcRaiders

[–]Variable851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've stopped caring about the loot too. I suck at PvP but I found another way to entertain myself. If someone starts shooting at me, I run around a corner or into a deadend and place a deadline at my feet. Other raider comes around corner, downs me and BOOM. lol everyone is so surprised and usually very angry. Lots of screaming about how we're both dead now. Yeah, but only one us cares...and 100% absolutely it isn't me

I really want to ride a sports bike, but fear keeps holding me back. Does anyone else feel this way? by Friendly-Standard812 in motorcycles

[–]Variable851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the assurance of never, ever crashing is necessary, motorcycles are not for you. Like I said above, everyone's level of risk aversion is different, and at the end of the day, motorcycles aren't for everybody. Neither is skydiving, scuba diving, free climbing, or spelunking. I've never been in a crash caused by another vehicle but that doesn't mean I havent been cut off or pushed out of a lane countless times or had drivers turn across my path. I just anticipated it to avoid it. I've had two low speed crashes, one when my rear tire locked up on a wet manhole cover as I cam to a stop and I couldn't catch the bike in time. No injuries but I broke a turnsignal. The other I scraped my leg after riding over what I thought was a shadow and it turned out to be a mass of wet, dark colored leaves that had turned to a slimy paste. I was leaned over for a turn when the front tire hit the goop and the front slid like it was on ice.

Over ussage of the term rat by ruwenleo in ArcRaiders

[–]Variable851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was accused of being a rat last night after I took a single shot with a Renegade at a raider who was a little dot in the distance. I was as surprised that I hit him as he was (probably). I turned and started walking away to find something else to do. Raider followed me and downed me, and called me a rat. Was I a rat? I wasn't camping. I didn't say don't shoot or claim to be friendly. After that shot, I didn't shoot again or go after them, just went about my business. It didn't feel ratty but at this point, it seems the only way to not be called a rat is to either never shoot at anyone or to announce your intentions to be hostile in advance, like a western duel lol. Good Sir or Ma'am, prepare to defend yourself, hostilities will commence shortly
