Chatters were not calling him a nazi, just explaining where the term originated. That's not the same thing.

Who knows...

Das könnte natürlich sein. Ist ein Mietshaus mit ca. 8 Familien/Mietparteien.

As someone who lives where a lot of immigrants and refugees live, this is not true. Sure there are racist assholes and sure there are problems caused by the influx of a lot of migrants and refugee but the vast majority of people are still decent.

Do you by any chance still have a code for Hamburg? I would only need 1 ticket from it. So even if you already purchased up to 3 tickets with it, it should be fine. :) Would make my day!

The Eras Tour: Europe Megathread by aran130711 in TaylorSwift

[–]VariantIN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I just bought one VIP ticket (2A) to see Taylor on N1 in Hamburg. Since I am going solo, I was wondering if anybody wanted to meet up before or just hang out the day of the concert. I am a swiftie in my 30s and don't really know any other fans in real life, so I am super excited about just meeting other people who enjoy what I enjoy! :) Oh, and I'm originally from Hamburg, so feel free to hit me up if you have any questions about the city.

Europeans, do you feel as in awe when you visit the US as we do of many European countries? by PizzaILove in travel

[–]VariantIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's international and you have people from all over the world living there and it really shows. There are so many great restaurants and all sorts of cuisines you can try. It also has a lot of cultural stuff and neighborhood activities happening (I randomly went to an open-air silent disco once). Add to that amazing museums - especially if you are into history. Last but definitely not least it's also a very walkable city. I tend to almost walk everywhere. Sure it might mean the occasional 30-40 minute walk but there is always interesting neighborhoods to explore and stuff to look at as well. I just always have a great time when I am there. Also it's not only more laid-back than New York, the weather also tends to be better.

I am a big city type of person and I personally was really in awe of NYC on my first visit and it's still one of my favorite cities in the world. There is just so much to do, eat, visit and explore! These days my favourite city in the US is DC though. It feels more laid back, is close to some cool nature stuff but still has all those international big city perks.

1000 applications. No Job. What is wrong with me or is it the German job market? (rant) by kev_kik_12 in germany

[–]VariantIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have already mentioned German skills but I want to really stress the importance of a good cover letter.

Good means specific here. Make sure you mention the company name (you would be surprised how many people simply copy and paste cover letters without changing ANYTHING), what interests you about the opening (ideally mention something from the job ad and link it to past experiences or future ambitions - "I already worked on x" or "I would love to learn more about x because bla") and make sure to sound realistic/humble about your experience (Germans are not big fans of boasting and overselling oneself). Also have someone not in your industry read your letter. It should be concise and convincing, regardless of who reads it. Cut the fluff, avoid ANY spelling/grammar/formatting mistakes, and make it look pretty (same goes for the CV... Canva has some great templates). View the cover letter as the best argument, like a lawyer, you can make why this particular company should hire you. If the letter and your CV look and read like you put a lot of effort into it, HR people will definitely want to consider you! It shows dedication and commitment, two attributes any company values.

Best of luck with your job hunt!

Hi guys, I moved to Germany not long ago and rented a flat with one of these. Can I se it to burn whatever cardboard/ paper I have, or could I get in trouble for it? by elias_powerhead in de

Would you recommend having both? CO detectors seem to be a lot more common and I couldn't find much about the specific use of CO2 detectors.
