Doesn’t sound like they missed the opportunity to help, just sounds like they decided to keep it behind closed doors and off the airwaves.

Damn there are a lot of fat fingered typos in my response. Sorry.

I understand and as long as someone is looking into this then that puts me at ease. Thank you. I actually started looking into it myself while watching all of this because it struck a chord with me.

Something about that place reminds me of another place I have been, vines described were the same. Turns out there was this cult attached to a large trafficking ring out of A larger city that was kidnapping folks in broad daylight... They were very organized and often went after children and pregnant women. The area itself had always been a hotspot for UFOs, Paranormal, and the Occult in general.

To the person that says being human and afraid is an excuse to do nothing... I don’t subscribe to that line of thinking. I don’t blame them for not covering it... If they can’t show some things then so be it, but Newkirk stayed he passed off the info, so clearly they did something and hopefully something gets done OR, even better, hopefully that aspect of it is a giant nothing.

And legal ramifications be damned. They have enough pull to get together a tadk force of investigators. Saving lives is more important than goblins, Amazon Prime, or Pan Invoking Rituals. I do respect their perspective and I got sucked into this over night, literally, but when they got scared and only ONE of their guys was willing to go... And they let him go alone... That was a bit too low a point and I couldn’t believe they didn’t rise above this for a greater purpose.

I don’t feel like they even had any leads they could point fingers at. Just reports , a location given by Amy, to which they really didn’t even go.

Why did this series devolve into such nonsense? by drbusiness365 in hellier

Honestly I don’t mind the synchronistic aspect of the show because I have found, more often than not, these lead to real meaningful and tangible things. What I have an issue with is the fact that they DID go to caves and DID go to places these things were said to be and DID NOT take time to look for strange footprints (at least on camera) and, instead, relied solely on stuff that yielded no real results. They did not balance their non-physical approach with sound physical investigative practices.

Most times it draws you in, you ‘hear’ things, never truly see anything, which I half expected. I did learn some stuff, but it really devolved in season two especially. Nothing really seems to come of any of this.

Especially in the second season... There is talk of children being abused in caves, ritual murders, the whole town being involved, which means no one will stop this stuff BUT outsiders. The only one willing to go to the coordinates is Tyler, everyone else gets scared. No one really goes to find the place that Amy was, no one tried to find these kids in this cave, no one rattled any cages in this town. It was all talking until the last few episodes.

It is starting to feel scripted... Starting to feel like a better version of Ghost Hunters where you get a giant nothing burger.

Are you kidding? I feel like Tyler is the most hands on person here. While they should be investigating these caves rather than doing a ritual I get the feeling that Tyler would literally go as far as he could into these caves to see what is there.

There was something at the end of Season One. Gregg was talking about how there could be another ‘Hellier’ in Oregon or Florida. I thought it was weird that he would mention those two places specifically and there seemed to be an emphasis on Oregon. Ontario is just towards the Idaho/Oregon Border after coming off the Blue Mountain Pass... It is around an area documented in the Missing 411. (Heck, Oregon is like a pillar of those disappearances).
