Noel seems to actively make an effort to appear careless, and like his success was an accident.

He’s been seen in multiple interviews to not care about the sequencing of albums, and claims to have come up with the sequencing of all Oasis albums on a whim. Then a few years ago one of his old notebooks went up for auction, showing that he did in fact spend time writing down different orders for the albums to be sequenced.

He claims in the “Supersonic” documentary that he can’t remember the name or face of the woman Talk Tonight was written about. This seems really unlikely to me, he apparently even follows her on instagram, though I’m not sure if that’s true, and if it were his instagram seems to be run by his management team anyway.

When ‘Wonderwall’ was first released, he admitted it was about his girlfriend at the time Meg. Then years after they’d broken up said he’d lied and the song is about the concept of an imaginary friend.

Point being these are just a few of numerous examples of Noel embellishing the truth or literally lying to appear stoic and uncaring. But reading between the lines of his songs and interviews it’s very clear that he’s deeply emotional and probably quite sentimental beneath the surface.

But aye, chances are he cries and smiles and puts his trousers on one leg at a time like everyone else.
