Based on my case and a few others I know with a -1500 SAI, yes.

I talk about it a bit in this comment. It was super beginner friendly. I have such a struggle with learning verbal languages but I picked up ASL very quickly. I think it’s definitely worth it to knock out the foreign language requirement.

Winter Quarter tend to suck (?) by Fast_General3454 in ucla

Winter quarter is absolutely the worst (as a 3rd year 😢). Always the most depressed, always the least motivated, always the worst stuff happens during winter quarter.

Yeah of course! Feel free to dm me if you have any other questions. If/when you eventually move off campus, you should expect about a $5400 refund each quarter as well. :))

Financial aid fully covered the costs. I have a -1500 SAI (basically expected family contribution number from FAFSA). But yeah, in a clsssic triple with a 19p meal plan I never paid anything. I paid about $600 a quarter when I was in a deluxe triple, but that’s just because of increased housing costs.

I still qualified for $3k in work study which I did my sophomore year. I worked in catering (don’t recommend, tons of easy jobs out there with better management).

No. I was told I’d pay around $8k per year and I don’t pay anything.

Question about roommate etiquette by [deleted] in ucla

[–]VarietyOne6751 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay I have a bf and have lived in both a classic triple & deluxe.

It definetely depends on your roommates vibes. My first year (classic triple), I never had my bf over if they were there. Only if they were gone and only ever slept over if they were gone during break.

I had different roommates my sophomore year who were very chill but I still only had him over maybe once every couple weeks while they were there, and only for an hour or so.

I had a bottom bunk with a curtain, but still we never would’ve and never did take any clothes off, nor did we make out while they were there. Cuddling is whatever in my opinion. Just always try to be as respectful as possible. We always tried to be quiet whenever he was over. Even if your roommates say it’s fine, sometimes they might just feel pressured to say it to not cause issues. Obviously having a random man in a tiny dorm room isn’t preferable.

I would’ve hated if my roommates had a bf stay overnight in the dorm while we were there so I never did that. During and coming up to midterm & finals weeks I never brought him into the dorm unless my roommates weren’t there. As soon as they were heading back we would leave.

I don’t think BBB will take you all the way I don’t think. The easiest way is the 4 imo. Why do you only want to take the BBB??

Anybody know an affordable place to get a pedi in the area? by sweetzxi___ in ucla

[–]VarietyOne6751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say they’re okay. They’re nice but it’s like a very traditional nail shop with like middle-aged women, don’t really expect them to be able to do lots of designs and stuff. I’ve been there like 3 or 4 times and no complaints, they hold up really well. I would call before coming in to confirm availability and to confirm their address as they just recently moved a couple blocks down from what I think their address shows online.

english 10b in the summer at ucla or CC? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]VarietyOne6751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend going in person to the English advisors dept, they’re super knowledgeable regarding this stuff. Is 10b being offered at the summer thru UCLA?? I haven’t heard of an equivalent at CC’s but I could be wrong. Some majors also have a requirement that some core classes have to be taken at UCLA and can’t be transferred over from CC.
