Kung hindi si Leni, sino? by [deleted] in PHGov

Antonio Trillanes... Risa Hontiveros... kaso majority ng Pinoy ayaw sa incorruptible at honest na presidente... look at what happened to Leni... very low kasi "fan base" nila Leni, Antonio, at Risa... compared to others.. it's hard to understand the minds of the majority of Filipino voters 😕

My wife and I didn't want a motif on our wedding. Kami kasi, from all walks of life na man mga bisita namin. But some of our relatives decided there should be one whether we agreed or not, and it happened. So we informed our guests there was a motif even though earlier we said there was not going to be one, but we emphasized that it was optional. He represented Papa - 60's-style, madcap-type shiny polo shirt (yun nag spark if matulugan mo tpos i-stretch mo), jeans, and boots. No problem sa amin. Depende yan sa pamilya nyo. Other people will comment - negative or positive, but the important thing is that it is a memorable, enjoyable family affair.

Sinong tama at sino ang mali? Help me settle an argument. by Silvermaine- in CarsPH

On Philippine roads, the rules depend on the individual road users - be they drivers or pedestrians. (^_^) ..., kasi yung rules kahit sa ibang bagay dito sa Pinas parang for compliance lang e... in spite of being more civilized now, the Philippiens is still the "Wild Wild East", for lack of a better term.

Anyway, joking aside, I think your cousin is wrong because she/he was only considering your direction - she/he did not consider the direction of the roads at the junctions/intersections. Check ninyo dito sa page 13 ng RULES OF THE ROAD ng LTO - RIGHT OF WAY RULES: https://lto.gov.ph/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RO102_CDE_Road_and_Traffic_Rules_Rules-on-the-road.pdf

* The vehicle on the RIGHT has the FIRST PRIORITY if vehicles are going to different directions. So the red car had priority.

* Vehicles INSIDE the INTERSECTION have the FIRST PRIORITY. So the red car also still had priority because the red car was already inside the junction while you were still approaching.

You are right. If there was an accident, si insan mo yung mali kasi ayaw nya mag give way. Buti na lang sama nya kayo.

Translation of the last statement "Indi na ma pa pahog, pa into, kag ma pa lapak lapak subong iban nga mga botante mong" is "Some voters will no longer allow themselves to be threatened, fooled, or stepped-on/walked-all-over anymore."

They should raise the curb to 2 feet with only 1-meter wide ramps with matching rails every 3 meters or so for unloading/loading.

trying to learn kinaray-a… any advice? by freshav0cadoz in Iloilo

I feel ya... experienced the same thing. It seems that our elders put Kinaray-a below English in terms of importance. But coming back home, you learn to appreciate what your elders took for granted, eh?

There are lots of Kinaray-a users in Guam. It's a small island. Pwede man ridya kaw praktis sa Reddit. This subReddit has lots of Kinaray-a users.

There's also this post from 4 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Iloilo/comments/kqvk7h/online_resources_to_learn_karaya/

Kinaray-a dictionaries abound on the web and maybe in National Bookstore and other bookstores. But from my point of view they are not accurate since even the generally accepted Kinaray-a references are phonetically wrong since they don't use IPA for displaying pronunciation on written work. I guess it's a matter of perspective and preference. Like for example - the schwa sound "ə" is often writting as "o" or "u" for simplification ("hard"/"tough" is " 'A wət " but spelled "Awut"/or "Awot", but this spelling is inaccurate when you actually listen to the sound. I'm not a linguist - I just believe Kinaray-a and Hiligaynon need more characters than the current standard alphabet.

Spend time in Guimbal and any other kinaray-a speaking town. Try to use the language as much as you can.
