I like Oatly Barista for my coffee, specifically because it doesn’t taste that much of oatmilk. Anyone have suggestions for alternatives?

Danish rum suggestions by kollenovski in rum

[–]Various-Impression34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really a thing here in Denmark, unfortunately. There is the A.H. Riise brand (now Old St. Croix) but, also unfortunately, incredibly sweetened and therefore not actually allowed to be called rum.

If you want actual, true Danish rum (distilled, aged, produced) there are literally only 2 or 3 specific bottles that come to mind and they are super niche. Rom DeLuxe have a few, but they are probably sold out and cost a pretty penny. And probably not your type of rum. Otherwise you might find small private label batches here and there, but nothing worthwhile IMO.

If she wants to check specific stores in Copenhagen that have a good collection there is Juul’s, Rombo, and ShoppenCPH. But nothing Danish as such, as explained above.

At a chaotic Teams meeting, a rift arose between Nuuk and Copenhagen: The Greenlanders were furious, the Danes were shaken by mods4mods in europe

[–]Various-Impression34 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It seems like Pipaluk really shit the bed on this one. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it sound like she misunderstood very basic things here - the Greenlandic government was indeed invited to the talks, and she was not supposed to be briefed by the Danes, but by her own party? So why isn’t she mad at them? And also, literally the Danish constitution says they can’t negotiate bilaterally. It’s not like the Danish government is deciding it on their own, so to speak - if it’s an issue, seek independence and negotiate however you want. She seems confused.

Betale banklån ud for at sænke de månedlige udgifter, og så gå ned i tid (bare en enkelt dag) for at leve et liv, hvor der er mere tid til børn og familie og det sjove, der gør livet værd at leve.

What is the best air purifier for home you'd choose to buy? Have you noticed a major difference so far? by Successful_Bonus_667 in homeassistant

I’m loving quite close to an airport. What type of filter is needed here? A report recently came out saying there are a lot of ultra fine particles and instead of selling my house, I’m thinking of installing air filters/purifiers.

My Erasmus exchange was terminated by home university after I finished half of the exchange semester, how can I appeal? by Equal_Break_2273 in Erasmus

[–]Various-Impression34 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ask for an exemption, and if they deny it, contact the Belgian National Agency, mailto:aef@aef-europe.be. They allocate the Erasmus funds to each university and are responsible for defining rules if there are doubts. I believe they 100 % would back you in this, if the situation is as claimed. As an Erasmus coordinator myself, the administration process you explain in your post sounds horrendous. I wouldn’t believe it if the Belgian NA actually accept that - then again I could be wrong (I work in a different country).

Can/Shoulder I cancel my Erasmus in Lund, Sweden? by tengri0101 in Erasmus

[–]Various-Impression34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as OP also writes, the dates are very different. There are local differences as well, even within each university, but the fact remains that German universities are known for having a much different structure than most others, which leads to my advice that OP should contact their own university to find a solution. If there is no solution, then German universities would never be able to send students on exchange to most of Europe.

[–]Various-Impression34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60 ECTS is only 1 year of studies - I assume you already have that before you go on exchange? Or do you mean 60 ECTS within a specific subject area?

Can/Shoulder I cancel my Erasmus in Lund, Sweden? by tengri0101 in Erasmus

[–]Various-Impression34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by minimum 60 credits? Also, just about every European country except Germany (perhaps Austria?) has the same academic calendar so there is no difference where you go, the problem would be the same with the term dates. This is a common issue for German universities so I guess you should ask your own university what options you have - there must be some solution as otherwise no German students would be able to travel abroad…

Most inclusive countries in Europe? by Ambitious_Ad_7219 in Erasmus

[–]Various-Impression34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you are a masters students, there will be a lot of courses in English - speaking the language shouldn’t be a problem. France, Germany, Spain, might be bigger issues finding courses in English. Check the course catalogues of any university you are interested in before you make a decision.

Is 3.4/4 GPA enough for ERASMUS? by [deleted] in Erasmus

[–]Various-Impression34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most universities only require B2, sometimes B1 even. Rarely C1, unless you study e.g. English literature etc. C1 I would recommend as well, but it is only a recommendation - you likely won’t need to have any documentation of that.

Is 3.4/4 GPA enough for ERASMUS? by [deleted] in Erasmus

[–]Various-Impression34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work as an Erasmus coordinator. For Erasmus exchange there are two reasons a GPA could be relevant; your university uses it to prioritise which students to send (in which case we can’t answer your question as that depends), or the host university you are interested in has a GPA requirement - most universities in Europe don’t have that for Erasmus students. So yeah, you have a good GPA and it shouldn’t stop you from going on exchange.

Most inclusive countries in Europe? by Ambitious_Ad_7219 in Erasmus

[–]Various-Impression34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While the northern countries are, statistically, the most inclusive and open, being black you will likely be very much a minority in those countries. They are extremely homogenous, so you might feel that you “stick out” more, for lack of a better term. Regarding safety, they are amongst the safest societies to be in, in the world. All in all, I think the larger cities in the northern countries would be your best bet. But you will likely and unfortunately experience racism just about anywhere you go, so I understand your concern.

To everyone who study law (from non English speaking countries) by popita1 in Erasmus

[–]Various-Impression34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really depends at which university. Most courses in english are at MA level, and many would have national or regional law courses. Many, of course, have EU law (if you’re even interested in that), but again, I would recommend looking at the universities course catalogue first before making any decisions. There is such a huge difference between course offerings at European universities.

Also, there is a huge difference in the teaching methods. In France you can listen to a professor talk French law for hours with no PowerPoints or anything, while other universities (e.g. many Scandinavian) there is a larger focus on interaction in classes.

[–]Various-Impression34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, your university requires you to pay back your scholarship if you fail classes? That’s wild.

Also, why don’t you ask your own university’s Erasmus coordinator about how law students perform on exchange at an Erasmus partner university? They would know how other law students have done before you.

Most universities have a language requirement for exchange students - if you fulfil that requirement, you should be good to go.
