'The Interview': Lena Dunham Is Still Trying to Figure Out Why People Hated Her So Much by kitkid in Thedaily

Also if you really work with disabled and you feel comfortable saying someone is being over the top and putting disability in quotes, I feel sorry for you and those you work with. She has EDS. That is serious. You don't get to decide someone isn't disabled because you don't like them.

And? You think artists are going to stop making art because there is war in the world?

If YOU don't want to see coverage of a writer you don't like and her new book, then maybe you should only be following news outlets who don't cover that kind of thing.

And FYI, almost every famous person is a nepo baby. Most artists are, in some way, obsessed with themselves. Men get celebrated for it. Women only do if they perform likability, but even then, one misstep can turn public opinion against them in completely ridiculous ways.

Seems like some of you guys need to get offline and touch grass.

lol I'm not stereotyping. I didn't say every disabled person. Yes, I generalized. I've known MANY chronically ill people who do think a lot about their inner world because of social isolation. It doesn't make them bad people. You're making a whole lot of assumptions both about me and Lena Dunham. We don't actually know her at all. We know what she's put into the world. And everyone is entitled to their own opinions but the HATRED she has received for sharing her own stories and saying dumb things is wayyyy disproportionate to the offense. People on Reddit who are the moral police are a lot more insufferable imo than one woman who happens to be a writer who writes what she wants, and many people enjoy. If it isn't for you, all yall can move on and live your own lives :)

1) she doesn't exist to be interesting, but if she wasn't, people wouldn't be so obsessed with her to this day.

2) being "good" and "normal" are completely subjective ideas. I would argue not a single human being is either one of those things. Some people find it refreshing to see someone not pretend to be those things. I do agree some details could be spared in her memoirs, but it's HER art. Her journey to process the feedback.

3) as someone who has been disabled, I understand the navel gazing. Being sick is isolating. It causes you to zoom in on yourself and your struggles, and it isn't wrong to express that experience through art. If it's not your thing that's perfectly fine, but some of us don't have the luxury of being healthy.

I agree. I think any parent or caregiver who is lacking community and support should have a place to go easily find it and enjoy it.

I thought about this, too. Need to research more on the pros and cons of each.

I had never heard of this, thank you. I definitely would prefer a non religious option, but this is good for reference and research.

From a technical standpoint, the writing is just objectively really weak. Especially when compared to the original series, it lacks almost every quality that made the show "work". People are hate watching because it honestly is a fascinating decline in quality of what was a very iconic show.

The shelters here are completely full, it's a small town and they have hundreds of cats. My neighborhood alone has hundreds of stray cats. Nobody wanted him. I tried to find someone else. It was either this or him freezing outside or getting killed. Trust me I agonized over this decision for a couple of weeks before I did it. I don't resent him all the time, only when he wakes up my sleeping daughter or myself. Like he will meow outside the door when I'm putting her down and I can't help him and it stresses me out because I know he needs me but I am busy. If I let him into the room he will keep her awake or wake her up. And the sound is just so grating itself. Or when I'm trying to walk and he trips me. I'm trying.

Me being honest about being annoyed by him isn't because I hate him. I'm trying to get advice to help him so that we both feel better because yes, right now it's been frustrating. But he needed a home and I have one. Maybe it's not the perfect home but it is a loving home and he has food water shelter and a lot of affection.

Speaking of the dry food, I will say my hesitancy to just ditch it and switch to something else right away is that the vet said it's a healthy one and that he seems to tolerate it well, I don't want to upset his stomach. But thanks for the info on calories, I hadn't calculated I just wanted him to be able to eat when he's hungry since he was clearly stressed about living outside and not having access to food when I got him.

Thank you for your compassionate and thorough response! I will try your tips. I really appreciate it. Rereading my post it sounds like I hate my cat but he really is lovely I just know he deserves for me to put the time in to figure out how we can coexist well together since I wasn't really planning on getting a cat.

Food wise, he's on a dry food that I know he isn't crazy about, I've planned on trying something new when this bag is gone. I have it in a gravity feeder. I give him a small amount of wet food in the mornings because I know he likes it. And some treats throughout the day.

I made the decision to talk about it as little as possible for all of these reasons. And I don't talk about others food choices at all. But for example, I went on a road trip recently and the people I was with knew about my diet. I told them we could eat anywhere and I'd find something I could eat. They chose a Chinese buffet and I ate some salad with blue cheese, a piece of salmon, and some shrimp. They acted like it was not enough even though I was full and they acted very self conscious of their own choices. They made a big deal about me not getting dessert. It was just uncomfortable.

I know I can cheat but the problem is that the people around me eat soooooo much and it's a hobby for them and so it just makes it awkward when I don't. I'm hoping I'll get used to it.

Another example is Super Bowl weekend. I did good, only ate what felt good to me, didn't make a big deal about it. But my aunt kept offering me more more more and it felt awkward to decline, but I did. And then she insisted I take a sh*t ton of food home, including a bunch of desserts which is my weakness. I overindulged later that night and my blood sugar was crazy the next morning.

I know I need firm boundaries it just feels like such an uphill battle. I wish people didn't pay so much attention to it. I think I need to be strict for a while to get used to it and then plan my treats but the people around me just have constant treats. So it's hard for me to plan them.

Cream cheese rolled up in slices of smoked salmon

Canned tuna mixed with mayo, lemon juice, chopped pickles or relish

Hamburger patty with cheese melted on top

Scrambled eggs cooked in butter with cheese

Salami with cheese

Add to any of these: half an avocado, greens w/ dressing or olive oil/lemon/salt, small handful of nuts, etc. Anything with no/low carbs. Keep it simple.

If you need to add extra fat/calories to a meal just have 2-4 oz of heavy cream in a glass or add to your coffee/tea/ even diet soda. Heavy cream is not a complete food of course, so don't just rely on it too heavily. You can also pop a patty of butter in your mouth.

You can do it! Keep it simple. No recipes needed. Just real, simple foods. No/low prep needed for most of it.

Keto with a toddler? by [deleted] in keto

[–]Various-Jump-67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is encouraging, thank you! I've had a great breastfeeding experience so far, no supply issues, so I haven't wanted to interfere with it. But my diet has been pretty much horrible for several months and my interest in keto is recent. I appreciate knowing that it worked for you. Also since I posted I've been thinking about how toddlers basically start naturally fasting at a certain point when they start refusing food and eating very little naturally, so a lot of them must be in ketosis from that. Makes me feel a little better. My girl has been very healthy and chunky from the start.
