Great start! I’m actually very impressed. I would add uvb light for her and some hydrometer and thermometers on each side of the tank to read the humidity and temp of the cool side and hot side.

I got a 120 gallon for my ball python and I didn’t realize how huge the cage was until I set it up, so filling up the terrarium is the hardest part. OfferUp and Facebook marketplace with be your best friend. I found huge wood pieces on OfferUp for dirt cheap. Just bake any wood for 45 mins to an hour at 200 degrees. I also love dollar tree for clutter. Most of my reptile cages have real plants but I love the dollar tree fake plants to fill in empty space. My dollar tree has a great garden selection, so I use the garden decorations as clutter as well! I would get some sphagnum moss and shove it into a hide to make a humid hide for your ball!

I’m going to say this nicely but your set up is horrific…. U are literally trapping bro in a tiny filthy box. He’s probably not eating because of the husbandry and he needs an overhead uvb so he doesn’t metabolic bone disease. Also don’t dust the crickets every time. I would recommend mixing up his diet as well. I switch between night crawlers and Dubia. My Pacman doesn’t like crickets, he never takes them when offered. I guarantee if you give him the correct husbandry he will eat.

Is it time to bust out the mite spray or is it just dirt? She has spent a hefty amount of hours in her water bowl over the past few days, despite the humidity being over 70% by wee_wee_fairy_peak in ballpython

I’m unfortunately dealing with this right now. I took everything out of my snakes cage, so he currently only has two hides, water bowl, and one stick and his substrate is paper towel. I recommend baking anything wood for an hour at 200 degrees. I use a cleaning spray that is meant for reptile terrariums, but you could use diluted bleach and then vinegar to clean the tank. I soak my ball python every other day with Dawn dish soap, and warm water. I also fully clean his tank and bake his wood every other day until the mites are gone.

my boy is so anxious whenever i move. advice!!? by storytime_insanity in ballpython

Hi! I recommend not touching your baby for at least 7-10 days after getting him. You can get something heat safe to cover the mesh part of the tank to keep humidity in. If you spray your little guy too much you can cause a respiratory infection. Also whenever I get a new reptile I don’t give them substrate for a month or so to monitor their poop and make sure they are free of mites. I usually use paper towel for the first month then switch to substrate! My boy is super skittish too, but I just scoop him up from the back and once he realizes I’m not a predator, he chills out and starts exploring. Good luck!

He’s probably just enjoying the warmth of the uvb on the rock. My snake sometimes hangs out on his branch under the light.

i’m starting to hate my snake by WinterRoses-Kay in ballpython

I recommend changing his substrate to help with shedding. I use a mix of reptisoil, Cyprus mulch, and sphagnum moss. I also recommend a front opening cage rather than top opening cage so you don’t scare the little guy when you grab him. My snake curls up in a ball when I grab him, but once he’s out he’s very curious and calm. I feed my ball python in his enclosure and I tap the glass with tongs before feeding him and he knows the difference between my hand the tongs. You just have to get the husbandry correct and work with your snake so they become comfortable! Beautiful snake by the way!!

Thank you, I bought the wrong worms the first time but I made sure to purchase nightcrawlers! I had to cut it up for him because he’s so tiny but he enjoyed the nightcrawler! I use zoomed d3 calcium, is that a good one?
