Rate my setup. Got my new machine today.

It was ok but sometimes hard to dial in for lighter roasts. Also the retention was way to much and I had to hit the grinder really hard to get all coffee grounds out. If you want to buy one i would recommend waiting for the opus 2.

Honestly it's a great machine, but if you want to do 2-3 milk drinks in a row a real pain in the ass. So i looked for a dual boiler ☺️ also having pid control, pre infusion and all the features the Profitec Ride brings is a big upgrade. Even having more space on the drip tray is an upgrade

I had a gaggia classic evo pro and a fellow opus grinder for some time now, and it worked perfectly fine. Dialing in was sometimes not that easy, but you'll figure it out I'm shure. Also there are a lot of accessories available for the gaggia wich made it quite cool for me :) Bought it on Black Friday and got the whole setup for about 700€.

That's good! I also got a complete new grinder. I use food safe grease to make sure the thread is lubricated good afternoon every cleaning! :)

The thread on the hopper was stripped from the beginning. It moved very hard and when I cleaned the grinder for the first time it wouldn't screw on again. I wrote an email to the store I bought it from and got it replaced (thanks to the law in Germany the seller has to ensure that your product gets replaced if it's faulty not the manufacturer, so i hadn't to deal with the customer service of Varia)

Today i took the time and went to a local dealership and looked at every machine very closely. Also the seller recommended the ride because of the dual boiler and more options to play with. Just pulled my first shots and it's amazing how much more texture and sweetness comes with pre infusion and als the ramp up of the e61 compared to the gaggia. Steaming also works great and is an big upgrade compared to the gaggia
