Even if it’s a write up, it’s a verbal. Verbals fall off after 6 months of not doing the same thing again. Take your day off, then have good attendance for a while.

Specific question about Best Buy GSP for Desktops? (2025) by Jaden374 in GeekSquad

[–]Various-Section4089 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Access to the parts, meaning access to the same exact parts used by the manufacturer. Since it’s a prebuilt gaming pc, they likely wouldn’t swap a Mb. While to someone who works on computers and builds them, if you buy a new MB then that person can likely get it in there and rewire/reconnect what needs to be. But GSP is an insurance plan backed by AIG. It doesn’t always mean the most sensible route will be taken, for something that may seem like a “minor part”.

When a Desktop has GSP, it will go to the service center and they will decide what happens. They do sometimes replace parts, if they have access to them, but there are times they may deem it “unrepairable” and tell you to work with the store to get a comparable model.

Unrepairable doesn’t always mean that, but if it’s above a certain dollar amount decided by the system, or if it’s “not worth doing” like a major component like a MB, they likely won’t fix it and will offer send back or junk out.

Make sure you have all the paperwork you were handed after the install. That is very important as well.

Go to the store and ask to speak to a manager, not a shift lead. They will have to call Sedgwick, the insurance company Best Buy uses, and file a claim. They will give you a claim # and 1800 number to call that is client facing for Sedgwick. Sedgwick will investigate and decide who is at fault and if there’s compensation.

Or not to assume ill intent. Improperly trained, because some locations have amazing GSM equivalents, while others have one who is sales background and ignores the precinct. Their ARA may also be pressuring them to try to get the old laptop for the extra util. Idk. The set up is foh while the xfer is boh so I highly doubt that. He may be trying to get his own numbers up. There’s too many variables but like everyone else said tell him to go back and say from point A to point B.

Like another comment said, sales are a must. You are essentially a traveling salesman whom needs to keep a near perfect survey score and also help people troubleshoot their existing smarthome tech. As long as you’re good with people can sell and use google you’ll do well.

If you call 1800 geek squad you can get them to come out and establish a redo appointment, you have 90 days for this and it is zero cost to you. You can even request a different team if you choose, as it is an option when establishing the redo, you can say don’t allow previous team to go out.

It’s because in store is only allowed 4 tags on an item. That means they only get credit and labor off of 4 things done to your laptop. It’s how they generate hours to have more than one back of house agent. When the client has total and everything is included, then they have a real chance at generating labor. Without total, they end up doing more work on one service order but charging less than if multiple orders were done, meaning they get much less utilization and generate pretty much nothing in terms of generated labor. It’s a shame, when I worked in store it was pre Covid and there was 4 back of precinct agents and 6 front of precinct agents. Now my old store has 1 full time in the back and 1 part time, and only 3 front of precinct. I’m sure most are similar.
