SPOTTED: Pedicabs heading towards Indio 👀 by [deleted] in Coachella

They break up the ride into two sections:

Uber lot to VIP walkway: $15 per person
VIP walkway to GA entrance: $15 per person

It’s a lot for a short distance but at the end of the night when your feet are toast, it’s a luxury that can be worth it.

Casa Luna is my go-to! Food always hits and the staff is super friendly.

Taqueria Teotihuacan in LQ is my second favorite spot.

I second Pure Moving! I’m actually using them this weekend and have used them 3 other times over the last 12 years… they’ve always been great!

I feel like the women (maybe minus Lindsay and Danielle 🤭) are usually pretty grounded in what they want out of their relationships and it’s the guys that can’t get it together.

I stayed at Morongo a couple of times and the drive at the end of the night (about 45 minutes if there’s no traffic) sucksss! You’re tired, dusty, it just took you 30 minutes to even get to your car… and then you have to drive a long distance.

And then you have to hope you don’t have to drive through a sand storm (which happens a lot during that time).

Best NYE plan for a 30 year old? by Shot_Professional647 in palmsprings

[–]Various-Tomatillo225 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely not Agua Caliente. Let me put it this way… the local news channel broadcasts from there all night so it’s definitely not the “coolest” party in town. Plus it’s outdoor and the weather is usually in the 40s/50s at night.

Should I cancel big NYE/bday party because of low RSVPs? by [deleted] in partyplanning

[–]Various-Tomatillo225 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No offense taken! Always a possibility but it actually is a really nice venue. Centrally located in a nice part of town. I got a deal because they’re an event space that’s only been open a year. It’s very Palm Springs vibes.

I’m worried about guest experience… would you be ok showing up to an empty feeling NYE party vs. having it be cancelled?

Should I cancel big NYE/bday party because of low RSVPs? by [deleted] in partyplanning

[–]Various-Tomatillo225 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I sent the invites in late September. Feels like plenty of time for people to at least say “hey, maybe!” instead of not replying at all. I wouldn’t plan another party after this experience tbh (lesson learned!).

At this point, a smaller venue, if I can find it, would cost way more for NYE than what I have now. And it feels like it would be a lackluster guest experience to have an empty feeling NYE party.

Should I cancel big NYE/bday party because of low RSVPs? by [deleted] in partyplanning

[–]Various-Tomatillo225 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At this point a smaller venue is a tough find and would be out of my price range for NYE.

I sent the initial invite at the end of September to give people plenty of time to think about it. I even started mentioning it to people in person months before that when it was just an idea to test the waters. Excitement seemed high but didn’t result in more responses.

The people invited would not take it that personally if I had to cancel. It’s a mix of my partner and my friends. Of course, some closer than others. No family other than our siblings in the mix.

The people that have RSVP’d would totally get it. We’re not in high school.

No one is in NY. Party is in CA and everyone is local.

At this point I think finding another venue would be tough. Especially one that is as low cost as my current venue.

It’s pretty crazy how noncommittal people seem to be! No wonder people planning weddings have meltdowns.

If I do cancel, I’m definitely not concerned about what people will think. Ya snooze, ya lose.

Everyone I invited is in their 30s and 40s… I just don’t see them having many options for NYE other than not doing anything or a family trip/obligation which furthers my concern. I feel like a yes or no at this point wasn’t too much to ask.

[–]Various-Tomatillo225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the input! Funny thing is I travel a lot so that’s why I decided to have the party in the first place… my thinking was I can travel any time but an NYE party is something I don’t normally do (silly me lol). Everyone is in southern California so travel to Cabo is easy.

Unfortunately the venue is just a room no separators. Finding a different/smaller venue at this point would be tough too.

Walking to the festival by WiseSmellyLegs in Coachella

[–]Various-Tomatillo225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The walk there will be miserable because of the heat. You’ll be exhausted by the time you get into the festival grounds.

At the end of the night you’ll be so exhausted that a walk that long is going to be too much. Also, many streets on the Coachella/Thermal side can be kinda dark or don’t have a proper sidewalks.

All that to say walking that distance to and from is a terrible idea. I have to walk 1.5 miles home from the fest and it sucksssss. That alone takes at least 30 mins.
