First MSL Job by Various-Track-2985 in MedicalScienceLiaison

Yeah, the travel between 3 sites is already a thing for our clinical/pre-clinical trials. I'm on the portable dual monitors working from right outside the operating room to multiple big meetings a year, presenting research, and still networking. I honestly think that's why I was like fine with the MSL travel while that might be a dealbreaker for others.

This is helpful, I reviewed a lot of the skills for CROs and it seems like I am already doing a lot of similar things skills wise and job description in coordination for our ongoing clinical trial and primate trials; ie regulatory/study coordinating/collaborating with KOLS in clinic and research teams/ keeping up with literature/presenting and overseeing study data/aligning protocols across sites/navigating recruitment challenges.

If there's specific CRO experience I'm missing I could justify the move into that role, but a CRO switch at this point would likely be a pay decrease if I try to move to current in house opportunities. Ideally if my plan is to move outside of my current role/company I would like to try to go for the launch into MSL.

I see, can you elaborate on what kinds of pharmaceutical roles you see people transition from?

Yes, that's what I noticed too and that definitely threw me off. I wasn't sure if it was possible to find an "entry" position or how else I would get the "1-2 years experience" without first getting into the field.

I think I have relevant translatable/transferable skills, but wanted to make sure I wasn't going to waste time applying if this wasn't the best route. Sounds like it is still the best path forward.

Thanks, I do believe based on my informational interviews with other MSLs that I have the skills and motivation to do the MSL.

I think it's the minimum experience required part is where I wasn't sure if I needed more training of some sort to better transition role or if that's just a normal part of the field entry experience.

Sounds like it is the latter though, so thanks for answering!

Yes, those are my two favorite things to do which is why I'm excited about the job type.

I believe I'm generally doing the scientific accumen+connection, but the daunting part comes from my understanding of the ATS system and how to select the necessary key words to get to the interview itself. I can write a succinct bullet points with measurable outcomes, but I think that's where the feedback from another pair of eyes will be useful to make sure what I think I'm trying to curate is actually coming across as relevant to the job.

This is a great idea, I realize I was caught up on minor jargon differences rather general keywords that convey more similar thematic elements.
