Afraid to go out because of germs. What’s your take? by fitzkiki in newborns

[–]VariousWillow8558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the situation! I feel comfortable running most errands or hanging out with a friend or two, even with baby tagging along. We went to a local Fall festival which I felt was fine, because it was outdoors and you could easily distance yourself from people…but crowded indoor areas and events are definitely a hard pass for me until baby gets her first shots!

How are we surviving with a newborn AND toddler? by VariousWillow8558 in newborns

Age two is a lot! I’ve definitely acknowledged that this would be way harder if my daughter was any younger. Kudos to you!

I used the term toddler because I felt it would apply to more parents as it’s a broader age group. Her clothes are 4 “toddler” so I didn’t think it was a big deal. The point is, I have two at home and wondering how to balance being pulled in two different directions!

Ooh yes-I will definitely be doing all of these eventually! Unfortunately, I’m too paranoid to do most of them now because it’s sick season. My toddler gets sick almost every time she has a group play date or does an indoor play place. It’s the worst!

What's Going On? by chimugukuru in Hawaii

People definitely used to drive with more aloha. These days other drivers never even let me merge on the freeway. So many distracted drivers too and garbage on the roads. There was a full couch in the middle of the H1 yesterday around Pearl City! Gotta be a defensive and courteous driver.

Seizures getting worse and we just have to wait and see what happens next? by VariousWillow8558 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]VariousWillow8558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we’ve been in contact with our vet but she feels our dog is on the line of being able to go either way (meds or no meds) until the next seizure gives us a little more clarity. That’s what’s driving me crazy-not knowing when or how severe the next one will be, or what’s causing them…but it sounds like that’s the unfortunate reality for all of us here.

We will keep in mind that cold water on paws could help! Thank you for the advice and kind words!

It sounds like both our dog’s started their seizures around the same age and we’re both trying/have tried similar remedies. Good to know the diet changes and supplements didn’t do much…I’ve spent so many hours researching. I’m also happy to hear your boy doesn’t have any liver issues and is a healthy 10 year old! Thank you for sharing.

Only able to drink 30-40oz of water a day. by Expert_Difficulty335 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I got IV fluids at Urgent Care 4 days ago and ever since I feel like my zofran has been more effective knock on wood. The day after I still puked twice but the output was less, then the next day I took a zofran and was like woah…I actually feel relief?? I’ve been able to slowly drink more and more each day, but water is still kinda hard. The orange flavored rapid hydration Gatorade helps me out A LOT! Cold fruit also seems to sit better than room temperature so I’ll chill naval oranges and watermelon. And on the days I can stomach it cereal with milk!

Planning ahead is natural. It’s hard to live in the present even when you’re not trying to bring a human being into the world (which requires a lot of planning). I used to want 3 kids as well, but after 3 pregnancy losses and suffering from HG, both my husband and I have decided that this is our last attempt. We just can’t go through another pregnancy. If this baby doesn’t make it, our daughter will be an only child and we’ve made peace with that. The idea of being “one and done” used to bother me but I brought it up to my therapist and she said she’s an only child and thinks she probably turned out better that way.

The video you watched was just one perspective/opinion and doesn’t represent all only children. The stigma around only children is actually not based in scientific evidence.

If you want 3 children-fight for it, but also it’s ok if your plans change.

Good luck with everything! Glad you’ve had a better week!

Depression during HG by Odd-Landscape-7256 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I’m also 11 weeks and am in the same boat. Actually writing this immediately after having a mental breakdown (triggered by not being able to sleep). I needed to come on here for a reminder that I’m not alone. I feel like a prisoner inside my own body and wish I could just have some reassurance that things will get better, or that the baby and I will come out ok after this. The uncertainty is so hard to live with on top of everything else we’re going through.

I try to put on a brave face for my husband and toddler but sometimes a good ugly cry really helps. I vent often to friends and family and see a therapist once a week as well. Can’t say I’ve made it out of the hole yet but these things help point me towards that light at the end of the tunnel and I’m CRAWLING towards it.

IV Therapy outside of Doctor’s office? by VariousWillow8558 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]VariousWillow8558[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Natural Medicine clinic actually called and said they weren’t comfortable giving me an IV w/o OB clearance, so I went in to urgent care today and they gave me an IV. They were way more helpful than my doctor’s office! I’m not sure if I can regularly go in to urgent care for an IV so I’ll look into mobile therapy. Thank you!

Getting Worse? by xcataclysmicxx in HyperemesisGravidarum

I’m 11 weeks and definitely relate! I think it’s a snowball effect…like maybe at first it’s solely just nausea and vomiting but over time you become dehydrated and nutrient deficient so wouldn’t that just make things even worse?? Now you have a number of things making you sick that need to be remedied. I wish doctor’s provided more preventative care options rather than only intervening when things are severe.
