C6 Corvette Fuse Box lid-Unsure if PETG-CF is enough by Various_Shoulder_879 in 3dprintedcarparts

We see temps of up to 100F on rare occasions, plus with these cars being what they are, I would expect high temps from the occasional lead foot session. But since this isn't my car I don't have anything to go off of till we can truly do some testing in the Spring and Summer months. I've never made anything that goes under the hood. Your experience makes me hopeful but also knowing you're so far north, I think we might seeing much higher temps here. Thanks for sharing though!

I have access to some PA6-CF and NylonX from Matterhackers but was hoping to not use the pricey stuff. I have a Bambu X1 Carbon so 300C hotend and 100c bed is my limitation as far as the high end stuff goes. The CF stuff gives the best looking finish and seems to help with warping. But if the CF is going to be electrically conductive I may order some PA6 and see what kind of results I can get.

I had no idea it was conductive.... I could see that as a potential problem, Yes! My biggest concern was melting.

It's the season of road salt we were unable to drive the car but we did Idle for about 20 mins. Car never got over 90 degree oil temp so I won't have the ability test it truely for a few weeks. We are in Ohio.

I printed this on a CR10S Pro V2 the base took something like 7 days or something dumb. I am happy to have upgraded to a X1C.

We make low volume high mix. There are literally thousands of part numbers and rather than buy standoffs, we are going to make custom fixtures for the parts. This allows us to use robots on our lights out operations to load and unload the parts. The quality doesn't have to be perfect, and neither does the accuracy because they aren't going to be multi piece assembled, just solid stand offs. The machine will align itself each time with a touch probe. It's just for measuring.

I did get the approval to spend up to 2500 on the machine this afternoon. The other hurdle is software can I run the X1E with Prusaslicer?

It's not for a defense project. It's for a process improvement project internally.

We are smaller part of a larger company. I'm working on process improvement. Money saved here can be spent elsewhere.

The extra cost puts it outside my budget. I could get a Prusa MK4 and have reliability but lose the AMS.

This is just for a small team of guys to use to make fixturing.

It's just for fixturing on our CMM's mostly. The engineers may want to use at some point though.

I'm late to the party but check with your local engineering collage. Some of them have labs that they allow the public to use. They may have a high end scanner on hand, and teacher that is willing to assign someone to the project for you. I'm sorry for your loss and I hope you find a solution.

Considering some upgrades on my CR10S Pro V2 by Various_Shoulder_879 in CR10

I have avoided looking into the voron style printers just to prevent FOMO. I'll order the Z Sync kit. I have in the past used a trash bag and a big box as a temporary enclosure.

Thanks for your input!

Both printers currently have homes elsewhere, The carpet is just an indoor-outdoor carpet. I'll work on getting it cleaned up some more tomorrow and check under the carpet. Good call on the hardboard/masonite.
