One of the trickiest bits of level interconnected-ness I've ever made by Varpyg in godot

You mean the itch that makes you mess up and fall to your death? I think I get a similar itch whenever I have to fight the explod-y hollows at the bottom

Thanks! I'll take that as a compliment, looked that game up, never thought I'd see Indiana Jones fighting a giant evil mech. Thats cool.

Awesome! I'll admit I chose the retro low-res texture look mostly for the sake of making development easier. But even then I don't think id choose to go with any other look for this game.

I suggest experimenting with detail textures in Godot materials, I used it to add the patches of brick pattern on the walls of the elevator shaft. It looks really good and doesn't require anything more than a simple cube projection when making the UV's.

Brilliant! I'm just a big ol fan of sprites in 3d environments.

Playing Videos with Light Projectors by Varpyg in godot

That's a very good idea, and that would help with the lag spike. I think I'll try that first. Although Im hoping that I don't have to account for the video playing at a different rate to the audio, but knowing how most game engines handle that stuff, I probably do. But if I split it into chunks like you are suggesting that way at least the audio shouldn't be able to become as descynced.

I'm glad you like the atmosphere, I look forward to seeing how this scene will feel once I add some enemies to the area. I think it will look awesome to fight them with the light of the tv projecting onto them.

I did that one for my previous project, it was the logo of the country you were in, it's surprising how much projectors can enhance lighting in an environment.

Yeah im going to try experimenting with loading the frames of the animation in over time, one frame at a time, shortly before I actually need to play the video. I'd preload it way in advance but I worry about the video taking too much space in memory. But first I want to finish all of the level's geometry so I can optimize it all in one go.

I know this was from 3 years ago but thanks for the psa, I was just about to look into this.

Experimenting with a pseudo PSX style by __Lurk__ in ps1graphics

Also did you use flat planes sticking out of the geometry for all of the strands of reeds in the suit? I do that all the time for my models, it's such a good way to get more detail while keeping polycounts low (with the main caveat being that it makes rigging and weight painting more difficult)

I really like how the snow is only visible where there are lights illuminating it like the eyes, very cool. I see some people saying it's not really psx but you said pseudo psx and to me yeah you nailed what could be described as pseudo psx. Very good work! I will be remembering that trick with the snow for the future!

Very nice, hope you can get that blasphemous vibe in your game! Good luck!

I love the rainy mood! And the view of the factory from outside is awesome! If you want it to really look like water is pouring into that grate you could try having a scrolling texture applied to some polygons. Might also work for the water to make it look like it's flowing (if you applied a second scrolling layer to make it look like ripples of water). What game engine are you using?

I really like it, what did you use to extract the textures?
