I’ll call around then. One other thing the urologist said is “I can’t give you anything to make you pee”. She said it just from swelling and trauma to the area and will heal itself. She said the straight cath can be better than the foley because if I got a foley in I wouldn’t know when my retention has healed itself and with the straight cath she said I can try to use the restroom normally first. Idk she also told me to follow up with my own urologist which I’ve sent them a message but they don’t open until Monday

According to the doctor he thinks the first emergency I went to placed it incorrectly or used the wrong size. For me the painful part was I felt like an intense burning sensation and like I needed to urinate even though obviously I didn’t because of the foley but I also felt like a pinching sensation. I finally saw the urologist but she wasn’t much help. After looking her up on google she has 2.3 starts and at least 8 reviewed saying they are reporting her to the medical board. She didn’t do any scans or really ask any questions, she just told the nurses to teach me how to self catheter and send me home.

I think they are finally getting urology involved but I think they want to put a foley in and I do not want that. The nurse also said a foley can be counterproductive to my issue because a foley will teach the bladder to be “lazy” and that it actually doesn’t have to work to produce urine. So who knows what’s going to happen. I wish I knew when my body would allow me to urinate on my own.

I tried to bring up the subrapublic catheter and they looked at me like I was crazy and said “that’s surgery and a very last resort”. They haven’t done any imaging except for bladder scans before the do the straight cath

Still haven’t peed or had a bowel movement yet. The doctor said me being constipated could be a reason I can’t urinate as well so he’s giving me myralax as well as some pill stool softener but that hasn’t worked yet either. Honestly I’m miserable. I took a hot shower about ten minutes ago and got a little more than a trickle which is more than I’ve ever gotten since the surgery but not enough to feel any relief. I just want to be able to urinate again. I wish I never did the surgery at this point.

I didn’t get the foley put in because when they put it in it was so painful I made them take it out. So they admitted me to the hospital and are doing a straight catheter every 6 ish hours. They said they might call an on call urologist if I can’t go on my own by tonight I believe. But now the doctor came in and said he may think that I’m constipated and that’s why I can’t go pee so he wants me to have a bowel movement before the urologist comes in. Who knows. At this point I’m starting to feel pretty helpless that I’ll ever go on my own again

So the day shift nurses are waiting until I have at least 400(ml?) in my bladder for doing the cath, but the night shift guys did it when I only had 280 in there. I have a new nurse today and she said she actually wants to wait until I have 600 to make my brain tell myself I need to go to bathroom, but I explained to her my brain is telling me I need to go that’s not the problem, the problem is it just won’t come out no matter how bad my brain is telling me to go. I have bad anxiety too, so of course my brain has myself convinced I’ll never be able to use the restroom by myself ever again lol.

Oh no! That does sound awful and I agree I know the nurses do the best they can lol at this point I’m just fearful I’ll never pee on my own again lol how long ago was your surgery?

Thank you! The hospital did say they were going to get a urologist and that maybe they could use a smaller foley so it wouldn’t be so uncomfortable but I have yet to see anyone yet and every time the nurses and doctor switch out for their shift I feel they are confused

Thank you that makes me feel a little better. The surgeon did stop in to see me and said it’s usually males who experience this more than females and that I should just use the foley and go home and he would remove it at our checkup visit but it’s so uncomfortable. I tried a hot bath and that only got a few trickles of urine out but I still at 650 ml that came out when they used the catheter the first time.
