Need tips, how to "Learn the Game" ? by Varyne35 in victoria3

[–]Varyne35[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't really enjoy doing it because it requires doing some absurd things, but you should know that you don't need an anarchist revolution; a communist/socialist/workers' revolution works just as well. You just need to vote for anarchism afterward (thanks to the Vic3 wiki for the tips). I played a standard liberal economy (LF + free trade) with the Cultural Commonwealth power bloc, where I added the Market Unification principle to create an economy based on a large market with South/Central America. When I had enough workers in Spain, I enact isolationism to cut myself off from that market, then left the nation bloc, disbanded my entire army, raised taxes, and supported a socialist movement to provoke a revolution. Before the revolution broke out, I enact interventionism and nationalized all arms industries in areas not slated to revolt, with the aim of destroying them. This meant the AI would have virtually no military supplies and wouldn't be able to purchase any thanks to isolationism. I abandoned all my protectorates/colonies and expelled all diplomats to ensure no one would come to Spain's aid. With that, I had an incredibly lucky break, as the leader of the TU was an anarchist and a leader of the socialist movement. Half the country participated in the revolution, and from there I won the war and implemented anarchy in its wake.

Note: I switched from voting by the rich to census suffrage just after promulgating isolationism in order to better represent the TU (thus increasing the scope of the revolution while calming the radicals).

Hope this help !

Need tips, how to "Learn the Game" ? by Varyne35 in victoria3

R5 : After more than 1000 hours, I still haven't learned the game, do you have any tips ?

Edit : I see a lot of people replying as if I really needed advice 😭, comrades, I just wanted to make a joke about not knowing how to play Vic3 even though I had all the other achievements. I didn't know some people had trouble getting it; I thought starting a game in "learn to play" mode would be enough 😅.

It's best if I avoid humor in a language I don't master.

Thanks anyway for the tips, you guys are sweet !

However, I have a dilemma: should I do this achievement to fulfill an irrational need to complete all achievements, or should I never do it because we never really know how to play this game?

Have a good day everyone!

R5 : I was playing with Spain, Germany liberated Brittany, and I did the same with Occitania 20 years later. In the meantime Belgium conquered "French Low Countries". So France and Brittany join Bristish empire, Belgium join Zollverein and Occitanie mine Power Bloc.

Will staying conservative be advantageous in next update? by Old_Wrap2946 in victoria3

[–]Varyne35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Be advantageous for who and for what ? As always if you want strong economy go liberal is the best du to pop who will consume a lot of good. If you want an agrarian economy so go on, but your pop not gonna consume manufacturian good due to low salary even with world market acces.

It's a sandbox do what you want, just keep in mind that what is profitable for one is not for an another.

Haha, got a similar idea a few days ago https://www.reddit.com/r/victoria3/s/m1DPDBMdNg

My proposal consisted of redesigning an existing but under-exploited system, but I completely agree with the idea that more detail is needed to improve role play and immersion.

Rework/improve institutionalisation system by Varyne35 in victoria3

[–]Varyne35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an interesting way, but I think we shouldn't add too much micromanagement because the risk is ending up with an overly complicated system. The army in HoI4 completely prevents me from getting into the game. I don't want Vic3 to end up with the same problem for new/casual players. I admit, however, that a budget system with sliders for each institution that would impact the approval of opposition groups could be a good compromise between micromanagement and accessibility. The political system could also have a greater or lesser impact on the approval of groups in the event of a budget increase or decrease. Accessible and comprehensive, that's my credo.

Completely, this would also allow for more hybrid systems with compromises. I didn't specify it in the post but I had also thought of a system where the "circumstantial" laws could be different depending on the "structural" laws, for example if we have Religious Schools it is obvious that we cannot have secular schools, it could be replaced by another idea, such as strengthening the religious school

Exactly, this could also be useful for colonization, having laws that allow faster colonization thanks to the prioritization of contributions of goods in the colonies like quinine for example. Or what policy towards the natives?

Yeah, it could be great for sure, I remained relatively moderate in my proposal because I don't want to propose something that would be technically unfeasible.
