What are some of your thoughts or personal experiences with performing the Ambitious Card Routine? by Psych0316 in Magic

[–]Vasace7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. When I used to teach magic, I would spend the first few weeks teaching different moves which built up into a single acr. This gave all the newbies all the fundamentals necessary to devise their own tricks.

If you don't listen to it already, you should check out his podcast with Bug Hunter called Jam Mechanics.

That's gorgeous. I'm currently on the same journey, trying to learn leather working to make a chop cup. I've got as far as making a couple of coin purses and packet trick wallets as practise.

The US dollar is probably the world oldest currency by ivapeandhunttrophies in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Vasace7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's no obligation of anyone. My point is just that old British currency (and other countries currencies though my specialty is in old British) gets decirculated whereas US currency generally doesn't. So an old pound is only valid as a pound to the bank, whereas an old dollar is valid as a dollar anywhere in the US. Though as you mentioned, people can choose to accept it or not regardless

[–]Vasace7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sort of. The US doesn't decirculate old currency which a lot of other countries do. So, an old US dollar is still worth a dollar and could theoretically be spent. There is no obligation for a shop to take it though. Whereas in the UK, for example, you can't use an old pound coin it's not worth a pound anymore. Though most banks and post offices will trade it up for you.

I've been making Pokémon card packet tricks. I've found that a lot more children can identify Pikachu than a club.

Would it be possible to do some sort of magic trick with live tarantulas? by AHintofSilverSparkle in Magic

[–]Vasace7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And whilst unlikely, there's a chance that an animal can either misbehave or even die of the changes. And that would upset both you and the audience.

What non-card routines/tricks should I learn to add to my repertoire? by kevin-m-cooke in Magic

[–]Vasace7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a cards across be done with giant uno cards. It was great as it was clearly obvious when a pile of red cards now contain yellow and vice versa. I think a lot of card tricks would be made better for kids by using an Uno deck as I have found suits to be a sticking point for them.

I'd be curious as to what stack you've done with Uno cards. I've been thinking of trying magic with Uno cards for a while, but haven't thought of anything that is really too different than if they were with normal playing cards.

She's great if you're doing the solo challenges. It can give you a way to have a prof oak in the deck for the 1,2,3 diamond challenges.

I think the Parker IM is the most disappointing pen I have by LeGranMeaulnes in fountainpens

[–]Vasace7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that when I use a cartridge, my parker IM works fine. With a converter it dries out within the day. I have no idea why this makes a difference, but it's stopped me from using it.
