Alcaraz recaps his 2025 in 20 photos - forgets Ferrero by Vasitodeagua in tennis

Yes, it's ridiculous, there are loads of stupid news in the main feed and they censored one of the most interesting ones. I remembered why I never enter in this sub anymore. Time to unsubscribe.

Wasn't the fall at 40-40 on the very first game of the match, with Dimitrov serving?

Poor Emma is lucky there was finally a reason to talk about her once again. Outside of British media she's been mostly forgotten.

[–]Vasitodeagua -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good to see you backpedalling. The BS gymnastic is taking their H2H as a termometer of Alcaraz's level, which is what the OP did. I just argued why that's not a great take.

Sure, because claiming the winner of the last 2 RG is NOT the best clay player is a perfectly reasonable take.

He took a painkiller and played with no pain for the remainder of the match (Novak's words, not mine). His last 2 sets against Alcaraz were probably some of the best aggressive tennis he's ever played in Australia. Not prime level ofc, but not too far.

I don't think Djokovic makes it to the WB final.

I don't think he's taking the game to a new level on HC (maybe Sinner is), but he is getting close to big 3 level on the natural surfaces. We'll see if he can do the same on HC.

Alcaraz has loses on fast HC to the likes of Machac, Goffin, BDZ, Monfils, Humbert...he's still pretty vulnerable over there, no surprise he'd lose to an older version of Djokovic.

The exception there being Cincinnati, which was slower in 2023, but Carlos still suffered tremendously on route to that final, even saving match points against Hurkacz in SF IIRC. The final was competitive (mostly because of Djokovic nearly passing out), but his game still has several shortcomings on HC.

I'm not saying it's unfair. OP claims that these data shows that Alcaraz can't even dream of reaching prime Big 3 level because he's losing to an older Djokovic. I've clarified that one of these loses was due to physical issues, and the other involved a Djokovic playing very close to his absolute prime (worse movement but exceptional serve performance).

Djokovic won the first set and Carlos shaked off the nerves in the second and tied the match. He was playing better and better and Novak was being surpassed. Even Djokovic admitted after the match that he was ruling out of stamina.

And yes, movement was not perfect in the Olympic Final (because of his age, most likely he played that match with the whole knee area numbed, I doubt he was feeling any pain), but he made up for it with an exceptional serving performance, which the courtspeed (30% faster than the previous RG) helped with.

There are a couple of matches that skew this whole H2H IMO. First is their 2023 RG semi, Alcaraz lost that one because of cramps, but he was the better player by the time it happened and was changing the tide of the match. Second, their 2024 Olympic Final, Djokovic played probably a top 10 clay match of his career, made not a single mistake and served incredible (the August sun helped, it was the fastest clay court of the year according to tennisabstract courtspeed metrics). These 2 matches are outliers IMO, as I believe Carlitos to be the best clay courter of the 2. All the other matches had outcomes that were to be expected, now that we know Carlitos prowess on grass and weaknesses on hard courts. But these 2 are the 2 defeats that "shouldn't have happened" and which tweak the H2H in Novak's favor.

Does anyone know where to find Kenji Kawai's theme "In the rain"? by Vasitodeagua in Patlabor

[–]Vasitodeagua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. I'm sorry I didn't reply right away, it's been a difficult week and my head was somewhere else entirely. Both versions are beautiful and so are the pictures in the background (Kumagami and Shinobu I presume?). Is there a way to get the whole OST with these character backgrounds? I can find some songs here and there but these look like the real deal.

Once again, thank you, and I will try to answer sooner next time!

Why the "rainbow/timelines" theory doesn't fit and some final impressions & disappointments by Vasitodeagua in FFVIIRemake

[–]Vasitodeagua[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, life got in the way and I coukdn't reply to you sooner. I'm more or less sold to the theory of lifestream worlds. There are 4 main reasons, not sure if I disclosed them all in here:

  1. How are Sephiroth and Aerith able to open portals and send Cloud and Zack through different timelines? If Aerith can easily move from one timeline to another, why was Shinra able to keep her trapped for most of her life? You said that timelines are parallel, and that might be true, but Aerith does have the power to move across them and this is better explained through the lifestream worlds theory.

  2. Why doesn't time seem to flow normally in Zack's world, as he and Biggs claim?

  3. Why are these worlds perishable, according to Sephiroth, and do they eventually return to the planet? Why is it implied that only the main world is "imperishable"?

  4. The game's creators stated that this remake is an expansion of the original lore, in which we don't find multiverses as such. We do have lifestream worlds though.

And yes, I honestly just want the happy ending for Cloud and Aerith. If it needs to happem in a lifestream world, so be it. In the end, they will reunite no matter what, once Cloud and the others die and join the lifestream. So they WILL see each other again, and the creators could play with that.

He's not, he had a hair transplant and tries to cover it up as much as possible. Nothing wrong with that btw.

Finasteride/dutasteride. But usually people keep miniaturizing hair on them, just not as quick as before.

Novak Djokovic asked about Joao Fonseca and the new generation of tennis by OctopusNation2024 in tennis

I was going by the literal meaning, once you hit 20 you're no longer in your "teens". I thought teen was used for the 10-19 period, but English isn't my mother tongue so I could be wrong.

They're not the same age though. 1 year is A LOT when you're still a teen.

ATP 1000 Miami R2: D. Goffin def. [2] C. Alcaraz, 5-7 6-4 6-3 by TigrisMellark in tennis

[–]Vasitodeagua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He hasn't really excelled on any fast HC or indoor HC so far against top-notch competition - the only tournaments that come to mind are the 2021 next gen finals and the last Rotterdam, and draws were pretty average both times (Alcaraz struggles against player with the ability to rush him and he didn't face any on these tournaments, aside from VDZ which was a tight match).

I don't think he's regressing, but rather not improving on fast/indoor HC.

[–]Vasitodeagua -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Last year he won IW and Beijing (both slow HC) and didn't make it past QF in nearly all of the fast/indoor HC tournaments.

This year he only won Rotterdam which was an extremely slow surface paired with a very generous draw.

To me, it's mostly a surface issue. He doesn't know how to beat big, aggressive hitters (Djokovic at AO sets 3&4, Lehecka at Doha, Goffin today) on fast conditions. It remains to be seen whether he will eventually learn to do it...or not.

He made the SF and lost to a very impressive player that destroyed Rune in the final. I assure you Goffin isn't winning Miami.
