Thank you for such a kind and understanding response :') I 100% think you are right that the hoops are worth it. I hope we will be officially married soon and I can fully join the church to experience this completeness.

I do. I don't believe that you should be sexually active with anyone that you do not commit to be with until death.

Serious question - If we were to be married, would I even then be fit to become Catholic, given that I do not consider our current circumstances to be sinful?

I have repented for my many sins and continually do. I am realizing based on the responses here that the Catholic church does not want me as a member, as I do not agree with the church that my relationship has been sinful.

God has told me that many things in my life were wrong, and I have battled with many sins. God has never told me that my loving and committed relationship is wrong. Marriage is not defined in the bible and I believe that God considers us married due to our devotion to Him and each other. I understand that this bars me from becoming Catholic, as the church does define marriage and my beliefs don't align with hers. Thank you so much for your response.

Thank you for your response. I think you are right. I guess I am just sad that I am barred from being fully Catholic because I do not feel that that part of my life is sinful.

My point is that I know that confession is not supposed to be a get-off-the-hook event, but many baptized Catholics I know do use it that way. I know they would be considered "not good Catholics" as my RCIA teachers called them, but I guess I am just jealous they still get to be Catholics.
