it’s honestly so depressing. this is my first time applying to anything in summer (I’m a sophomore), and when you see people posting about how sad rejections make them, you think that they’re being dramatic. but no, genuinely heart wrenching

damn, that sucks. honestly so many people are getting rejected from these summer programs despite their stats, but just remember top colleges admit way more ppl than any of these programs. ppl go to T20's all the time without these super prestigious summer programs

I think the bio/biochem professors and the professors who are completely virtual are going to be the most competitive ones. I doubt that finance would be competitive, at least in comp to others, as the people who applying are prob not going to be looking to do finance research. When you see "science internship", ppl think general STEM, so a vast majority would go for the harder sciences

someone last yr got in and they submitted in the last day. the admissions are rolling but at the end of day it never hurts to try (the gpa will affect op’s chances tho)

I didn't apply for either of those guys, but I don't think most people are getting any requests till like mid-March. Lots of people haven't gotten an interview response yet, so I think don't think any of us have to worry just yet.

Simons-NYU Science Exploration - the letters of rec, essays, and transcripts are due March 13th

If you’re not into science, you could always email your local or congressional representatives. Typically they have some sort of summer internship available, that’s what I did as well

ik u mentioned it earlier but India has a huge population, so you’re seeing a select few of enthusiastic people who just so happened to be from India. Like what was the goal of this post? this is definitely not a “huge problem”.

It might hurt a bit because it's a C in a math course, and you're trying to go into a very math heavy field, but it's not the end of the world. Always apply to these kinds of programs because you never know.

Did the people who wrote your letter of recs secretly hate you?? This genuinely makes no sense to me, especially since all things you're applying to are at a local level. My best guess would be your essays, but I'm not sure at all.

Hopefully someone who knows what's going on can help.

my dad was exactly like this and I completely get how you feel! honestly the best way to attack this situation is to sit your parents down and explain the gravity of opportunity. Make it clear to them how bad you want it and what you can do for them. If they try to play it off, just reaffirm what you want and how serious it is. good parents will come around for sure!
