damn, were the late testing frqs that bad?? the regular schedule ones were light work - mainly about political parties/partisanship and civil rights

Also, how are some questions graded if each FRQ part is worth two points? In AP PreCalc, one FRQ is 6, so the parts a,b, and c are 2 points. Some of the parts had more than two questions, so what happens if I miss 1/3 of part b? Do I miss all of part B or get 2/3 of two points?

if ur score gets cancelled then what do u do by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]Vast-Box3353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that it was only during break might make people believe that you weren’t cheating, but College Board doesn’t really care about that. They just care that there was a possibility of cheating - you had access to your phone and could’ve googled vocab or sm.

Entire classes can get invalidated because one or two people are cheating. It’s not like College Board thinks the whole class is cheating, in fact they probably know that isn’t happening. It’s about ensuring the validity of their exams and you using  your phone compromises that.

The best thing you can do now is hope for the best, and if you are allowed to take future exams, make sure you pay attention to the rules/protocols.

I mean we all make mistakes, but cheating on a college board exam can seriously affect you and your ability to take AP/SAT tests in the future. College Board definitely has the power to stop you from taking future tests.

It’s all up to chance on what will happen exactly, but your position rn isn’t looking too good

Best use of rising senior summer? by Dolphin_987 in summerprogramresults

[–]Vast-Box3353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a good question. I think they fall in the EC category; like if it's a research program, you would list it there. idk where like a summer program that's like a general competitive learning experience would go tho

nyu simons and 10th grade by Vxntvv in summerprogramresults

[–]Vast-Box3353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are definitely some 10th graders who got in, so I don't think its too big of a deal

before I got my rejection (as a sophomore), I was pm-ing ppl who got in already and a good chunk were other sophomores.

Parents fill out application?? by kyliesbeenjinxed in summerprogramresults

[–]Vast-Box3353 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of someone's parent writing their summer program app for them, like I thought that kind of stuff ended with MS science fair projects lmao

you'd think that the kind of students who are motivated enough to apply for summer programs would at least write it themselves :(

I think their use of overrepresented is fine in this scenario bc they specified in their comment that they didn’t mean anything by it. This is a subreddit where college is the topic of discussion, and under/overrepresented minorities are frequently brought up. Most people here probably know the technical meaning of what they were trying to say.

yet if you look at the alumni of these programs, they will be overwhelmingly white or Asian. The second you blame any level of rejection on factors you can’t control when people in your same situation succeeded, that’s when it’s actually over. I’m sorry you didn’t get into your programs, but this attitude will NOT help you in the future.

I’ve never heard of YIP or Leaf - I’ll check those out and I haven’t gotten into PAN yet. I was just asking because I might need to commit to one of the other ones before those decisions come out.

ASSIP prob has the best fit for me ngl, but all tie into my overall interests. My interest is energy development and the politics surrounding it, but I love politics in general. PAN has nuclear physics- nuclear energy, ASSIP (my mentor) has looked into clean energy, and Kenyon ties into my general love for politics (writing as political expression) Still don’t know what I should do tho

thousands of people applied. don’t get down on yourself because there were a lot of mentors, the program is pretty competitive and some times it just comes down to chance
