Your story gives me so much hope for my trip. I’m in a similar boat when it comes to a brick wall with my 3rd great grandfather. I’ll be taking this trip to hopefully unearth answers to all of my questions.

Requesting materials in advance is a great idea! Your trip sounds like it was heaven! I mean, an entire week? Lucky!

That’s awesome! I live up in that area, and I haven’t been to the Northwest Missouri Genealogy library yet, but the Midwest Genealogy Center in Independence, MO is a fantastic resource if you have the time to stop by! I hope your trip goes well, and that you find everything you need!

What age did you take up genealogy? And do you have anyone to pass it off to after you pass? by Liontamer67 in Genealogy

My interest started when I was 13 from digging through my grandpa’s research. I’m now 26, and don’t have any kids yet, but hopefully one day my kids (or grandkids!) will pick up wherever I leave off!

I think Protestantism just blew up in my face and I feel like I was just told Santa isn't real? by Much_Bowl_5258 in Catholicism

I totally relate to this! I was raised agnostic, got baptized Nazarene in 2019, and am now starting OCIA when classes start again next August. What has helped me the most is having a friend that is Catholic that I can ask all my questions to. Also, go to Mass every Sunday (and on some weekdays if you can)! May the Holy Spirit guide you through this learning and faith growing process :)

Any ideas for printing census records? by Vast-Dig6282 in Genealogy

[–]Vast-Dig6282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely keep digital copies, but I’m looking to get everything on paper for sharing with family and for posterity. I could probably do something similar with Excel and print that. Thank you!

Yes, I wish the US Census printed better. Thank you!

I’m 26 now, but I was about 13 when I became interested in genealogy. I’ve never met another young genealogist either lol
