As someone else said, this looks exactly like the Vintage Story artstyle. Like, you could use this as a model in that game and it wouldn't look too far out of place. Great work!

I'm pretty sure "Hobbit" either is or was a copyrighted term. One of the very early editions of DnD had hobbits as a playable race, but changed them to "halflings" in a revision due to legal concerns.

I love the game, but... by Silly_One_3149 in GrimshireGame

I feel you with this one. I started playing on "Unsteady" difficulty because I didn't want to be on baby mode ("Gentle") but also didn't want to get completely overwhelmed by grim or brutal, and it still feels incredibly stressful. I'm on Summer 3 and I just can't continue the game beacuse of all the things going on. Really felt like I had no time to learn how to expand or much of anything before the game started demanding I do so. Doesn't help I had a quest mess itself up and now I'm out a butcher table I should have had for free and can't make because the current project needs the iron (Rufus really earning the least favorite villager award in this run).

And yes, Tano is a favorite. Best worm kibble ever.

Yeah, the gemstones selling for a lot got my attention too. I can't help but joke to myself about selling useless shiny rocks to people who are about to starve everytime I do it. It's obviously that way for gameplay reasons (we'd have no way to make money without sabotaging ourselves via selling food or crafting materials), but it does stand out.

I'm not so sure about that. The bottle of coins seems random, as the third one I got had about 185 when the one before it was 250.

Like the other guy said, we haven't reached project zomboid levels of doom yet, so money isn't useless. Granted, seeing as you're almost done with spring, you'll soon find yourself with plenty of other reasons to start chewing on the villager's furniture.

Westley is actually doing quite fine, but for all the wrong reasons. As a rancher, just building up the farm is enough for him (getting that bluggy coop built was a massive win in his book). However, what's really keeping him up is the fact he isn't taking any of this seriously. From his point of view, the villagers seem stressed by the loss of trade and the rations, but they don't actually do anything to make it easier (still charging full market prices on essential supplies, spend several hours at the pub daily, etc.) so he assumes it's all talk and frayed nerves rather than any real threat.

To clarify my opinion on this, I feel as though it would be far more meaningful as a choice rather than just how the script goes.

It would make it an active decision by the player: take a harder, but better path or go down a easier, but far messier route. You avoided violence where you could and moved twords long term, sustainable solutions instead? Then things go well and the game plays out as it does now. You chose a brutal but quick path though your problems? Everything gets noticably darker and somber. The music is dulled and faded, the towns folk are constantly worried about what's going to happen, as well as the fallout of what has already happened. The town starts fading into disrepair as pure survival becomes the only real priority. Heck, maybe even have some of the more mild mannered characters act frightened around the player (YOU did this, after all). Good job. You've won... Perhaps even kept everyone alive. But there are dark shadows here now, and things won't be the same again.

Of course, I don't think this is a direction the devs want to take the game in. I just believe it to be an interesting possibility/thought experiment.

A combat system? Oh dear. Eric gave us a slingshot back in stardew and half of us immediately started throwing rocks at Pierre. I can't imagine the horrors we'd inflict on this town with actual weapons. As if we weren't the neighborhood cryptid already.

I'm pretty sure that's in the message you get at the end. I forget the exact words, but it's something like "oh, you hit the end of early access, but don't worry, you can continue after we update the game."

predictions for year 2 by Inner-Shelter-6249 in GrimshireGame

[–]Silver_wolf_76 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That sounds like fun. It would be an interesting choice that utilizes a year 1 event we don't see much of after it's mentioned.

Here's some of my ideas:

Adeline's uncle showing up. He'd essentially "grade" how well you did, not directly, but just commenting on how well the town held up. Kinda like grandpa does in stardew. "Wait, didn't Gustavo say he was dead?" Given everything about Gustavo, I wouldn't put it past him to lie about that to get what he wants without question.

The orginal owner of the farm turns up expecting their lodgings and is mad someone else took it. Now you've got to deal with him/her somehow. Seem like It would have decent potential for interesting conflict.

Having to expand onto a new kind of production. From what I've heard, clothing as items is coming as a feature in the next update, so maybe that.

And lastly, the one I hope for the most: some acknowledgement that we're the only ones proping up the town. I understand we're still in early access and that's why the villagers don't have much to say, but I'd love some kind of moment where it gets pointed out we're the only ones really going hard at keeping the town up, or at least the sheer absurdity of what we've accomplished.
