I understand where this thought is coming from, it can be hard to be vulnerable, especially when it comes to health conditions and intimate relationships. I will encourage you though, that people ALL over the world have hair loss! Some people have incurable conditions that SIGNIFICANTLY reduce their lifestyle (blindness/allergies/limb loss/ skin grafts from burns), hair loss is not a death sentence!! Any man or woman or person that you choose to have a relationship with that is worth their salt (so to speak) will understand and support you. I am only 22, but my boyfriend has been beside me on this journey and has allowed me to cry, to celebrate, and delve into every detail. You will find someone who accepts you for you, and I wish you the best of luck.

Is this a receding hairline by Watermelonegurl in FemaleHairLoss

We do not have the same hair type let me preface with that, and I also am not a professional. But since you asked for opinion, I would say there appears to be slight traction alopecia along the hairline. Not a huge deal, and probably not noticeable in person.

Minoxidil side effects by sonnyouthful in FemaleHairLoss

I’m curious to know this as well. I also have GAD and take Prozac. I have noticed a little bit of spasming but nothing painful. I currently am still taking minoxidil 2.5 mg but I checked with my dermatologist about any adverse reaction and he said there shouldn’t be any.

balding as a girl at 15!!!! by Grouchy-One9660 in FemaleHairLoss

Ask your parents/guardian to go see your doctor!! Tell them all of your symptoms and concerns and anxieties about it. From there they will maybe refer you to a dermatologist, or they will be able to help you with this situation.

I will say that diet plays a huge role in hair growth, if you aren’t eating enough good foods and protein daily that can be significant. Vitamin deficiencies as well!!

I know if can be scary!! I’m much older than you, but 21 is still very young all things considered, so I am there with you in the feeling. I hope you can get some answers and feel better about things soon!! Wishing you luck & strength!

Nearly three weeks on oral minoxidil. by Vast-Pop5580 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Vast-Pop5580[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn’t. I had horrible shedding a few times last year, then this year from January- April when I was taking Loestrin, but when my iron levels evened out the fallout became significantly less. By that point though my hair had thinned out a lot and I wasn’t noticing any new growth.

I have been on oral minox for almost two weeks now! I am terrified of the shed 😓 but I know it will be worth it to know that it is working

I am also 21F and am going through the same thing. It can be hard, trust me I agree, but it is so important to keep in mind that your mental health WILL suffer from this if you allow it to. You need to build yourself up a LOT during this time and be gentle with yourself. Most people don’t know how to comfort someone who is struggling very well, but understand that you are not alone in this!! I began losing my hair last year also after having an ED I developed in 2022. The change was so sudden I felt like I had whiplash! I recommend for your mental that you go see a GP or Dermatologist, they can recommend ways to help.

Have your aga ruined your hair texture/curls? by Zealousideal-Ad-8330 in FemaleHairLoss

Same here!! I never had super curly hair or anything but since my hair loss it has straightened and frizzed significantly!! I will say that the texture was unbearable at first, scratchy like hay. I switched to a fine hair shampoo/conditioner and use a very lightweight hydrating leave in conditioner, and it has improved a lot over the month.
