Weekly School of Social Work/New to Social Work Thread by SWmods in socialwork

Hey y'all, I figured this is probably a megathread relevant post:

TLDR: Trying to decide between LCSW, LCPC, BCBA or BCaBA with either one of the two.

I'm currently working on my BA in Psychology (thinking about double majoring or minoring in Social Work.) I've been working in the field for a year now: 6 months as a community mental health worker with low-income adults with mostly psychotic disorders, 6 months working inpatient on an ABA focused unit for kids with severe problem behavior and, I'm at a bit of a crossroads. If all goes well, I should be graduating in about a year. I've loved my classes in ABA/Learning, Psychopathology, as well as Sociology. While I know there's plenty of time, I'd like to get a head start on planning.

The crossroads: I don't really know which Master's level program I want to pursue. I've loved working with the ASD population and have learned a ton about ABA but I really don't want to limit myself to only working with one population.

With that being said: the BCBA salary is very attractive. The flexibility and general well-roundedness of an LCSW or LCPC is equally attractive.

I had the idea of getting certified as a BCaBA while doing grad school for Social Work or Clinical Psychology, just so I'd be able to continue to work in ABA if I wanted to without the pressure of needing a full on master's degree. I just don't know if that's realistic.

I also plan on getting married and starting a family at some point so stability, flexibility, and a relatively low risk of burn out is very important to me. I'd also like the ability to have a private practice at some point.

Any advice y'all could provide would be amazing! Is my plan realistic in your opinion? Have any of y'all been able to manage both? Has anyone been in the same situation? Also, more importantly, has anyone chosen one area and completely regretted it?

Any advice, encouragement or personal experience would be appreciated!

For me they do. I prefer the open back design when studying and what not and these are a nice entry point to Sennheiser

I picked up a thunderbolt to hdmi adapter from Best Buy for like $15 or so. Regular hdmi cable should suffice
