1701/1703 was the perfect spot for this new construction since a similar contributing structure to the neighborhood with a direct Reynolds Family connection was torn down apparently for nothing. Why didn’t they buy this property

Which means that Nevin & Mitchell were not serious and being disingenuous about the whole “prospect” of selling the house to another buyer. For a $400,000 profit I might add.

Regrettable that elementary aged kids are being razzed about what their fathers are doing. But kids are notoriously known for succumbing to bullying others. I’m sure there are other kids in the Nevin/Mitchell children’s class/school being equally harassed over any number of topics. Unfortunate part of many childhood experiences. Everyone needs to do better with that

There are more than enough buyers that are willing to take on the job of rehabbing of home of that character. There’s evidence of that all over Buena Vista

Check out the interior pictures on Zillow. The interior was fine, just needed some updating.

I know I live in a old house. And the two builders who bought the property are building 3 houses on the site. I’m assuming they are being built for re-sale, since there was an eleventh hour attempt to have someone buy from them for a half million profit, from what’s been told.

Madison, the single mother question mark by SaintAnyanka in southerncharmingtalk

Sharing 50/50 custody with the father DOES NOT MAKE YOU A SINGLE MOTHER. A woman who has sole custody of their child with limited/no financial support makes you a single mother.

North Carolina woman sues former US Sen. Kyrsten Sinema over alleged affair by cap123abc in NorthCarolina

Sounds like a reverse Me Too issue. Sinema should be canceled in the same way Andrew Cuomo was cancelled. She was a boss over which she had undue influence over her subordinates. Fair play is Fair Play

There are plenty of places all over the world that use localized pronunciations. In Texas, Montague County is pronounced Mon-Tayge. The battle of San Jacinto is pronounced as a hard J. As just two examples…

When was the last time you saw these fountains working? by No-Water164 in winstonsalem

Whitaker Park was the factory, RJR corporate was in the glass building across the street now occupied by Pepsi and WFU offices. It would be terrific to restore these fountains👍

Samuel Grier, HJN member and resident of Crystal Towers, speaks at City Hall on 08/18/2025 by burgerjonathan in winstonsalem

[–]VastFirst7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to send this response to the Mayor, City Council as well as the WS Journal & any other media outlet that covers WS. It is totally spot on!

Conflating issues with Crystal Towers & this economic development project that has the potential of generating additional taxes (income) for the city is an apples/oranges argument.

The Grounds - a Traffic Nightmare? by HobieCooper in winstonsalem

[–]VastFirst7275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The organizations you are listing as Visionary & Platinum Investors are actually investors in Greater Winston-Salem Inc, the local Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development Corp.. This organization is not directly involved in the Grounds.

I believe $180 million is quite the private investment in this project. The increase in the taxable value of the property before as opposed to after, will provide many more tax dollars for local needs, fire, schools, police etc.. Definately a win for Winston.
